Im using them everywhere now, along with the normal Wago 221s depending on the situation. Did I say that these things are freaking awesome? Yes I did.

I had originally purchased a variety pack of Wago lever nuts to use for smart switch installations in my home. The variety pack contained the side by side 221-412 style for two wire connections - I quickly depleted those as many smart switches have wire leads and the side by side style quickly got used up for line/load black leads and neutral white leads (for those switches requiring neutrals). Looking to replenish the side by side two wire connectors, I instead sought out this newer (at least to me) 221-2401 inline style connector, as I had seen it in use in a couple Tech Tuber smart home installation videos. I found though that based on the specifics of each individual installation, both the side-by-side and inline styles have their particular use case. I actually prefer the side-by-side style if installing in a busy box - the side-by-side tend to lay up better in my opinion when pushing the wiring back in to the switch box. The inline connecters are preferable in a couple situations, including installing an overhead light fixture or extending overly short wires in a switch box. For overhead fixtures, the inlines are easier to snap on to the house wiring, and then bring the fixture up to the open end of the inline connector and snap the fixture leads to the house wiring (the side-by-sides have you fighting gravity a bit as the fixture leads need to be brought parallel to the side-by-side connector). I also have a switch leg switch box where the original ground wire was left overly short by the original electrician when the house was constructed - these inline style connectors are perfect for attaching to a short wire first, before any other connections are made, and then the wire lead from the smart switch can be easily snapped in - in this case, with a short house wire, the inlines dont fight being pushed back in to the box like they do when using the inlines with reasonable length house wiring. So in summary, both these inlines and side-by-sides are good and have their uses - I may have gotten a lower count inline box knowing what I know now, as I think the frequency of use of these will be lower than the side-by-side usage.

    Exactly what I needed

Pull the lever up, insert a conductor and push the lever back down – done! Tool-free and lever-actuated, WAGO"s 221 Series wire splicing connectors easily, quickly and safely connect solid, stranded and fine-stranded conductors of different cross sections using two-, three-, and five-wire connectors. These connectors are available in two variants which accommodate 24-12 AWG and 20-10 AWG wire. Opening the levers on the 221 Series requires little effort. This means that you can connect conductors quickly – and without tools! While connecting the conductor, recessed handles on the sides ensure an easy, secure grip on the connector. For peace of mind, you can test the voltage from either side of the connector even when installed – one test point is in the conductor entry direction and the other is on the opposite side. This accessibility provides extremely convenient testing conditions, for a wide range of applications. In addition, mounting carriers are available for every 221 Series splicing connector. Each variant can be mounted vertically or horizontally. Simply secure the carrier by snapping it onto the DIN-rail, or with screws on smooth surfaces. Flexible mounting clamps simplify both connector insertion and removal. Conductors can be conveniently connected and removed before or after inserting a connector into the carrier. One test slot is always accessible to ensure compliance with VDE standards.
