> 3 dayI bought this printer mainly to print shipping labels. The printer is very competitively priced and works well. It is extremely fast. I have only printed one label at a time so far, but when you click the print button, your label comes out instantly. I cannot even hear the printer running, just a slight wirrrr and the noise of the label falling on the floor. The software is barely adequate. It is a big install. Read the other reviews to find out what to install and what not. I installed the printer driver and the Brother P-Touch Address Book. I found it very difficult to edit labels using the P-Touch Address Book software. I am sure that with practice I would get better but who wants to spend his or her time learning how to design or modify shipping labels? There are a number of designs available, but strangely enough I could not find what I needed. While the address book has a field for the country of destination, none of the existing label designs include the country. I have not found out how to add the country to an existing label. I believe the printer would work from Microsoft Word with the right template, but I have not found how to do that. I am sure that if I spent enough time I would but again, the point of buying this printer was to save time and not have to fuss with it. So my rating for the printer itself would be a 5 star, but the software holds it down to 3 stars. Note that I also have a Brother laser printer and my overall comments are nearly the same, great hardware, lousy software.

Greater than one weekIf your VCR is still blinking 12:00 this is not for you - had QL-500 perfect, after 10 years it blew up, so upgraded to this - I do simple labels - copy, paste , or off D.B - this takes a PHd in label technology to figure out how to use - sure wish I had the 500 back - The Amazon guys great - had product in two days and less dollars than Staples. > 3 dayIve had no problems with this label maker and I like the fact that you have a countless number of combinations to work with. Overall, I think this is a bargain of a deal for anyone who needs to make labels on a regular basis.

> 3 dayFor doing standard mailing labels, this printer is very fast and does a nice job. There are however some quirks. Each time I need to use it, I need to pres the on button. I dont know if the printer is actually off, but without pressing the button, it will not print. Once you start printing, its no problem, but after it sits a while without being used, you have to start it again to use. More of an issue for me is there are no clear 1 labels available. This printer replaced an old Seiko, which had the option of using clear or white labels and I often used the clean labels. Thats not an option with this printer unless you use the large size clear labels, which BTW cost more for a roll than what I paid for the printer. If Brother or a 3rd party would start making clear 1 labels for this printer, Id be a happy camper.

> 3 dayThis is possibly the most unnecessarily complex, badly supported, bereft of help and 80s styled piece of **** printer you will ever buy. Please do not even consider this. The Quick Start Guide explains how to attach the cables - something a 5 year old could probably do - but ignores how to set up to actually print labels - Duh! Thats what I bought it for. It might be useful to include that Brother! The Windows 10 element does not seem to work and the only way I could get the software, and I use that term very loosely, was to launch it directly from the hardware. 0/5

> 3 dayWonderful machine, fast, quiet, fairly versatile. Yet they havent yet equipped it with a label catcher. It will spit your file folder labels all over the office and good luck finding the 2015 1099s label that squirted under the file cabinet. I use a waste basket to catch them in, and Im only 90% successful.

> 3 dayI love this little printer...but the software!! Good luck for the average computer user. Took me quite a while to get the unit to work for me. The instructions that come with the unit are very poorly written and explained.

> 3 dayThis replaced my Dymo 330 Turbo since my Dymo no longer works with Mac OS 10.8 (Mountain Lion). The QL-700 print quality is good and I like the way it doesnt waste even one label when loading. The Dymo used to feed forward one label when loading a new roll to align the label starting point. The QL-700 recommends hand feeding the label past the start point but automatically backs it up to the beginning of the label so that not even the first label is wasted. It seems that the newer Dymos do this also but I have read some reviews here on Amazon which mentioned the labels might get stuck or started peeling off in the printer if left there too long. I purchased the Brother based on those reviews and have had no such problems with the QL-700. The QL-700 has an automatic cutter which is nice but it will cut the label and essentially spit it out. It helps to have your hand there ready to catch it, else you have to chase it to whereever it goes!
