> 3 dayThis is a great backup that uses AA type alkaline batteries for powering your radio. As a ham that never knows what situation I might be facing for an emergency, this is very useful. I, and most people have a cache of AA batteries that I keep all of the time. This means if I drain my rechargeable batteries, this can be deployed with some fresh AA batteries to keep me on the air.

Greater than one weekAfter reading a lot of reviews we decided to go with this one it seems this one doesnt get quite as hot as a lot of the other ones on the market but we dont know yet so hopefully this will work for us We did buy an adapter on Amazon that would plug into the wall which had a problem causing us to mistakenly not know if the battery illuminators were working correctly , We solved that were buying another adapter Works with baofeng 2015 model radio sold here on Amazon 1. Weve used it for several hours on standby and so far it has no heat whatsoever is cold to the touch We will try listening to a weather station and update you later ? 2. We have transmitted with it very little so far doesnt get hot at all Cold to the touch . If anything changes will update

Greater than one weekI plan on using the rechargeable battery that comes with the radio most of the time. But I like the idea of having back up power just in case. The first thing I did when the AA battery adapter pack arrived was try it out to make sure it works as promised, and it did. The nice thing about AA batteries is that they are widely available. Where as the proprietary battery that comes with radio has a limited life span. Also like the fact that the AA pack can use either alkaline or nickel metal hydride batteries, and come with provisions that allow you to use either voltage type battery.

> 3 dayWell built battery, allows easier handling of radio with extended grip. Battery virtually lasts for days when going out for weekend ventures. Great battery to have in your B.O.B / radio kit.

> 3 dayI got this as a Birthday present from a wish list of Ham radio equipment. The first thing about this battery is you dont need a base charger to add juice to the battery. You just need the power adapter sold separately great for traveling or hiking with a roll out solar panel sold separately. The traditional way to get this battery up to full capacity is to fully charge it on the base recommended to charge without it being attached to the Radio. Once charged attach to radioand turn on and press an hold number 0 and the voltage should be 8.3 - 8.4v. Use the radio to bring the battery down to about 7.4v and do a full charge cycle about 5 times and the battery will last longer and have a great shelf life. My original battery lasted for 5 years using the recommended charge/discharge mentioned above. Also its light and not bulky perfect fit for inside jacket pockets.

> 3 dayEven though this accessory could be a bit more substantive, (feels cheap and took some modification to the detent to snap into radio), other aspects work as advertised. It shows a max of 7.8W going into the radio (BF F8HP) when holding down the SQL button to check wattage, but the full charge on a battery pack is 8.4. Contacted BTech about this and they said this is normal. It is what it is and is a good accessory to have to save your batteries. Great to have and it really saves on your batteries! I now have two of them for the power supply I have in my house and it works fine. BaoFeng Tech personnel have ALWAYS BEEN HELPFUL AND WILL REPLACE DEFECTIVE PRODUCTS AND WITH NO HASSLE. They replaced a defective battery eliminator upon request and after going through the RMA process. A reputable company is important when buying electronics mail order... I recommend buying ONLY from BaoFeng Techwhen buying any BaoFeng radio equipment.

> 3 dayGreat life. It works for hours. Just wish I had an outdoor antenna to extend my range. It is used mostly inside. Do you have any suggestion for apartment dwellers that are enclosed with no roof access. Trying to figure out how to configure an outside antenna with side slide windows. Any suggestions w/b white helpful.
