> 24 hourMy little orange Weller that I got at Home Depot gave out unexpectedly (WTH?) so I replaced it with the Hakko digital FX888D. Just turning on the switch and watching the iron heat up the very first time sold me. It took about 90? seconds to heat up to 750 deg F. After a few hours the transformer unit gets a little warm, but not hot. However, the handle always remains cool and comfortable. The stand is diecast metal instead of plastic. I havent used any of the pre-programmed temperature settings yet but Im sure Ill be raving about them too when I do. The variety of tips that are available just beats the stuffing out of my old Weller. If I had known how superbly nice this unit was, I would have kicked my Weller to the curb a long time ago, even before it died. I will forever scoff at inferior soldering irons now. Just click Add to Cart and buy one now, you can thank me later.

> 24 hourIf you want something that actually works compared to those soldering irons that you plug straight into an outlet without temperature control, this is one of your best and most bang-for-buck options (the other being a Weller). Have logged dozens of hours of soldering on this device on a single tip (chisel) on basic through-hole and some light SMD work without issue. The flush cutters are a nice bonus.

> 24 hourI recently lost my 30 year old Weller WP35 in a house move, which severd my needs well all that time. I replaced it with the orange Sealody only to find out replacement tips are impossible to find or entirely nonexistent. Returned it and bought this. This is perfect for building amps and wiring electric guitars. Don’t waste time trying to save a few bucks, get this.

> 24 hourI was torn between this station and a comparable weller model. On the weller I liked the knob for adjusting the temperature (not looking at the digital unit) but liked the digital display of the Hakko. When I purchased this I was worried about how easy it would be to change the temperature. Turns out it is simple, painless, and can be setup with presets. After using it for awhile, I love the quality of the iron and tips and how quickly it reaches temperature. The sponge doesnt seem that durable, but that is easy to replace. Everything about this feels sturdy despite the cartoon-like appearance.

> 24 hourNice quality soldering station, for not much more than the cheap knockoff copies from China on ebay. No regrets whatsoever about this purchase! Setting the temperature is a bit confusing, but not after you RTFM.

> 24 hourOK, lets get this out of the way: This is not a professional iron. I am fortunate enough to be able to use 2 Metcal soldering stations at work... now THOSE are professional soldering irons. However, for home use, for the price (approximatley 1/8 the cost of a Metcal station), this is an unbelievable buy. Ive only had mine several weeks but have been extremely impressed so far. If the long term performance holds up, then I will be an exceptionally satisfied customer. It heats up very quickly, the tip temperature is accurate and easily controlled. The tips appear to be of high quality (the included tip, while sufficient for everyday soldering, isnt big enough for big jobs, and it way too big for SMD work; I purchased a T18S3P for bigger jobs). The included dikes are also very nice.

> 24 hourThis is the best soldering iron Ive ever used. Would likely go for the slightly more expensive model next time as the simplified interface to set temp is too convoluted, but the product works great.

> 24 hourI tried using thos for the first time and it would not reach a temperature that would melt solder. I called hakko and they were very helpful but I now have to send my brand new soldering station in to have repaired. Two of my friends have hakkos and swear by them so this could just be a fluke thing.
