Caran dAche Classic Neocolor II Water-Soluble Pastels, 15 Colors

These crayons are fabulous: you have the control of drawing with a crayon, you rub the drawing and you have pastels, and if you apply water, youve created a watercolor. I highly recommend these excellent Swiss crayons.

These are one of my favorite tools in my art kit.

These pastels are amazing. Theyre creamy, handle beautifully, and handle almost like gouache when wet. Theyre portable and the tin is nice. Im very pleased. The only reason Im leaving a 4 star review instead of 5 is because of the lightfastness of the pencils. First off, theres no rating on the pastel itself, so you have to do a bit of online research to find this information. Not a big deal, but while caran dache has many pastels in this series with excellent lightfastness, only the yellow, black, and white in this set are rated as excellent. The ochre and brown are rated fair, while everything else in the set is rated good to very good. I would have expected higher lightfastness from such a small set, especially the earth colors. They could easily substitute all of these with similar colors of excellent rating.

So many colors, so many things to use it on! This was the most reasonably priced set I could find throughout all the art supply stores.

Of them I use them on campus. I have used them on paper along with watercolors and acrylic. Paint mix the medias together.

Fabulous, excellent quality.

These things are amazing. The colors practically jump off the page. I have to remember when using them that sometimes a lighter hand is necessary to get the right effect.

These were recommended by my art instructor. Now that I have used them, I want more colors! They are smooth, vibrant, easy to use. I love them.

Used for watercolor painting.

These are so easy to use. They are a very good value for the money and I would absolutely say go for it if youre thinking of trying these. I had other water soluble crayons and when I started to use these, I could immediately see and feel the difference in them. They are now my go to for background coloring in my adult color books. The pigments are so vivid and bright and the application is smooth and even feeling. You can do light build up doiflng layers or put down a good heavy amount and get that super pigmented look. I also scribble a little on my caran darch pallet for crayons and water based pencil mixing and then I pick it up with my water brush and it works wonderfully. Theres so many good things about these crayons. They are beautiful also. Good selection of colors for any project and amazing potential. Im so glad that I went ahead and spent the extra to try these crayon out. I am more than satisfied and wish I had even more of them now. ❤ you wont be disappointed. And if you dont push too hard when using for background colors, the lines will completely dispense and disappear and you cant see any of them they will blend seamlessly
