Horrible magnetic performance

This is a very nice torpedo level. Its well-made, solid and accurate (at least the one I received is). The horizontal level is large and very easy to read unlike some other levels. (I found that I had four more torpedo levels that I had forgotten about but some are very old and one is innacurate and one is barely readable due to a dark and clouded bubble glass.)

Light and easy to see bubbles. Magnetic, but no very strong.

I checked for level and plumb by using a horizontal and vertical surface and then flipping 180° and checking again. The bubbles were perfect. I didnt check the 45° bubble but I suspect it is perfect as well. The bottom plane is milled aluminum for straightness and durability (see picture). It also has two magnets embedded in the aluminum for ease of use on steel objects like washers, dryers, stoves, et cetera. The bottom plane is the only plane that should be used for measuring plumb, level and 45°.

A 9 level is an indispensable tool for me. I do a lot of carpentry, and while I trust longer levels more than shorter ones, there are just too many times when I either cant fit a longer level...or am just too lazy to go find it. A small level lives quite nicely in a tool bag!

Great for making sure picture frames are level and plumb for example. Small compact and quality made level. Solid construction. Large bubble in easy to see high contrast solution. A number of orientations to insure easy of use in differing situations. Accurate for most uses. No real downsides that I have been able to see.

I like the good solid feel of this level. It feels as if it will stand up to the rigors of the work site. I would expect nothing but accuracy from a Craftsman. As a side comment, I like the color - it makes it standout in the jobsite, easy to find.
