DEWALT Socket Set, 1/4-Inch & 3/8-Inch Drive, SAE/Metric, 34-Piece (DWMT73804)

For the DIY mechanics this will give years of service. For the money a great socket set IMO.

Kind of hard to write a review on an item that you have not even used yet. However first impression is the tools are made nicely, has an okay case maybe the lid should have been a little more pliable though. Without using I do notice that there is no stamped sizes on the sockets. That means when the size wears off you will have to paint or use a silver sharpie to mark the size. I cant say this will hold up to superduty for hard core pros but for the home user or even pros that do not work on the super tough stuff they should be fine. Worst case they do have a lifetime warranty, if you break one get it replaced. If they cant handle the hard stuff you do, you still have a nice set of 1/2 drive sockets that you can use for normal non impact. I dont think you can really go wrong. As for super pros, maybe you want something better. But who knows. These may just surprise you. If I ever put these to superduty on my impact, I will update if I remember. On a side note. For lug nuts I bought the Tekton 7 piece available right here on Amazon.

i got this as a way to start out my 1/2 impact socket set w the basics for mm / sae. it was on sale for black friday so i got it on a helluva deal which was all the more incentive.. its got your basic most used sizes in the reg/short style sockets. and i can easily add on to this as they offer deep/tall impact socket sets that will match w this fairly well. plus you can just buy singles for those odds n ends that arent included but youd like to have. the quality of build on these are top notch, hefty solid sockets that immediately upon holding u can tell will stand up to whatever you throw at em. the si,es on the socket walls arent the hardest ever to see,, but theyre most certainly not the greatest when it comes to visibility; but you can see them no prob all the same so its of no concern. the sockets have a cutout hole for ball detends which is nice so these wont pop off easily. and when situating them on a impact wrench w a hog ring, they sit down the anvil very well.. some ive seen will only get halfway down n get caught up but not these. the ones ive tried so far all have a solid tight grip so no wobble from the wrench or impact, and the hex head side is very solid too which is good as they wont tend to slip as much as if they were more wide open. the wrench itself is biig. not overly big but big and solid. the ratcheting mechanism is very very fine quality w at least a 70 tooth (if not more) drive head. smooth operation and the switch between forward and backward is very positive; no half steppin here. I love how it comes in these Dewalt set cases, as i have several from other previous sets like the ratcheting wrench sets, or 1/4 socket sets.. they all comnect together well and are easy to carry connect and see into... i just wish these cases were compatible with Dewalts toughcase+ /tstak lines,, it seems they dropped the ball on that one by changing the formua... which is even more a downer seeing as they have 2 other 1/2 impact socket sets w the deep Metric and deep standard sets and it woulda been great to have those all sitting on top of my tstak drawers w toughcases conneted on the top for a complete set ... but i guess ill live .. all in all its a great set for the price, the quality and value are well worth it, and they dont seem like theyll let u down anytime within this decade

Works perfectly for jobs where 3/8 just isnt enough. LOVE DeWalt!

I am an Interior Finish Carpenter, all my tools are Dewalt. To me, there is not a better tool made than a Dewalt tool. So when I saw this, I knew I had to give it a try. I needed to replace both control arms on my vehicle, but I did not have the metric set needed to do the job. This set did everything I needed it to do. I was happy to see that it also came with the 1/4 adapter for an my impact. This set did not disappoint. Tough and durable just like you would expect from a Dewalt product. I would highly recommend this set to anyone.

Great for my work shop

I purchased this tool set a while back and just recently returned them for a refund because of poor quality. I have always been a big Dewalt fan but recently, the quality has gone downhill. Or to state it more correctly the quality never was good but simply mediocre the whole time. Let me explain. After returning this set I purchased the 3/8 Milwaukee 56 piece set from Home Depot. Mind you I have never owned anything made by Milwaukee in my life so I’m not a fanboy. When I kept seeing Milwaukee tools all over YouTube and hardly any Dewalt tool reviews I said to myself I must be missing something. After opening the Milwaukee set I immediately noticed the difference. The higher 90 tooth count and the wider paw in the Milwaukee was extremely noticeable. The clicks on the ratchet were much quieter and it was also very smooth. I also liked the longer handle for more leverage. After I opened the Dewalt ratchet I noticed it only has 72 teeth and a much small paw. All the sockets on the ratchet had a lot of slop compared to how tight the Milwaukee was. I’m guessing this is because of the wider paw it has which makes it tighter and gives it more stability. After watching the Project Farm channel on YouTube I was amazed to see that the Milwaukee ratchet broke at 312 ft lbs of torque while the Dewalt succomed at only 230 ft lbs! The Milwaukee also only had a backdrag of 499 compared to the much higher 799 on the Dewalt. But don’t get me wrong they both could be better. Wera tools which is a German brand was in the 200’s! I also found it interesting that if you watch the earlier videos of the YouTube channel Hammer and home he has nothing but Dewalt on the walls around him, in background but after he received the Milwaukee Packout he was so impressed he switched from the Dewalt storage system and went with Milwaukee. Now his wall behind him in the reviews shows half Dewalt products and half Milwaukee. He’s basically starting the switch. And this is how it begins Dewalt! This is how you lose customers! To be honest the tough system 2.0 needs a lot of work to get on Milwaukees level and to be honest Dewalt has had plenty of time but they have chosen to do nothing. The latest iteration is terrible so I don’t blame him for switching. But back to the Dewalt socket sets. Here is what I would do if I was Dewalt. 1. Use the Elite category at Dewalt to make new and improved Elite ratchet and socket sets. 2. Make it all 100%in the USA. 3. Make them 90 or 120 tooth like the Craftsman V series and make a wider paw to tighten things up. Also fix the backdrag issue. 4. Stop making them look cheap and make them look like a higher quality tool. Also strengthen the anvil which is the failure point of most ratchets. 5. Fix your tough system 2.0 and don’t put 3.0 on the next one. Simply call it the tough system Elite! But if you are going to call it that it better actually be Elite. By the way keep the original tough system and get rid of tstak. It’s garbage. Then you will simply have tough system and tough system Elite. 6. I shouldn’t have to be telling you all this. It is common sense and you are currently paying someone that should be doing all of the above.

With a socket set I feel like the case is as important as the tools it holds. If your case is falling apart and you lose a socket, it wont matter how great the quality of that socket was-its gone. DeWalt got it all right on this one.
