eMedia Piano For Dummies v2

This is OK- its basically a bunch of clips that you can use to learn various aspects of playing the piano. My daughter was actually learning at the time I ordered and I think it helped a little, but what helped more were the various music books she bought in addition to this. I suppose for someone who had absolutely no background in piano the format would be good- especially for those who like mixing multimedia learning with practical work. It isnt bad- it just wasnt what I had expected!

I never learned to play the piano but that wasnt the books fault.

I really liked this. It has midi connect ability and as you work through the songs, the tutor informs of how you are progressing. Which wrong notes you played, notes you played too fast or too slow. Mind blowing.

Not so much for dummies, actually for beginners. This package is so basic that you wont benefit from it if you have ANY experience. Its OK for a novice then, although the light hearted jokey theme running through the package is obviously aimed at younger children - Id say age 4-10 years maximum!! This is CD based and not DVD, so dont expect state of the art graphics and sound, cos you dont get them. Annoyingly, this is yet another software product that has a box about 10 times bigger than it actually needs to be. A small DVD case or even a CD jewel case would have been quite sufficient. I know this is done to make customers believe they are getting more for their money, but its a decpetion, and a waste of resources. So, a very basic and fair to middling starter package, although there are better ones out there at around the same cost. My guess is you are paying for the Dummies trademark, so shop around for a DVD based program that features a more comprehensive learning package, and one that can be used by adults too.

This certainly is for dummies, this isnt even a piano! Im ready to kick their A Majors

Its so easy to follow! I love the fact that it teaches you the actual notes. Ive always wanted to learn the piano/keyboard and never had the money/time for classes. This saved me time and money! I can do it whenever I want to!

Tried this product on three different computers, with windows7. Home Premium and Pro, didnt work with either version. Worked with Vista and XP but not with windows7.

Yes ,if you are an absolute beginner , like me , then this will be a great course for you , because it works best for people who have no musical experience , which I suppose is the point of it all anyway. This course will be much cheaper than actual piano lessons - you can play the parts over and over again. Theres constant feedback for where youre going right or wrong , and there are plenty of lessons to have a go at , so why not give it a try?
