Greater than one weekNot sure if I got a bad batch or what, but my jug of neatsfoot oil smelled like rancid ham fat. Pretty freakin gross. Didnt want to give any of my leather goods away smelling like that.

Greater than one weekI bought this after my brother-in-law told me it is what his dad used on his baseball mitt when he was a kid. He said the mitt is still supple (hes in his 40s.) I use it on my boots/ shoes/ jackets. It helps break in the new ones faster and with less pain involved. Also, if you dont take care of your leather shoes and jackets, they dry out and crack/ dry rot. This oil doesnt leave an oily residue, doesnt transfer once you let it soak in about 5 minutes. Love it!

> 3 dayIve been using Neatsfoot Oil since the 1960s, when my Dad showed me how to properly break in and form a baseball glove (when they used to be leather). I found out many years later the NF oil refinery was just a couple miles away (Philadelphia). I think for working stiff leather nothing is better. It will darken the leather so care should be taken or another product used if thats an issue. On working items like gloves, harnesses, belts, saddles & saddlebags, shouldnt be an issue. The smell isnt bad, it doesnt linger, but you are dealing with rendered animal shinbones so dont expect lilac or citrus, etc scent (THOSE scents are all chemicals, those are the ones you need to worry about.)

> 3 dayI have bought both the Kiwi and Fiebings. This is the best, and is 100% neatsfoot oil. Have used it on my baseball glove, knife and hatchet sheaths. Note: Darkens the leather, I didnt like the blonde untreated leather. This preserves the leather for use in all kinds of weather. Does not take much, a little bit goes a long way.

Greater than one weekWorks great to follow up a good saddle soaping. Cow Oil is probably the best thing you can use to treat and restore cow hide. Has great results across my fine quality boots and vintage militaria. Pictures show the change after 1 light application on a brand new reproduction US M-1907 style sling.
