> 3 dayMy apartment complex gives out free filters but they are so flimsy and dingy and Nevada is so dusty that after a few days it just gets so dusty and my allergies are going crazy. These are expensive but definitely worth it. My allergies are greatly reduced and my apartment doesnt get nearly as dusty as the filter actually holds onto all the particles.

> 3 dayOK, heres the deal. Brand new modular house in the Midwest (northern Michigan), delivered in January. Bought A/C - it was optional - just in case wifes allergies would flare up. Today they did. She took a Claritin and it helped some, but then after an outing, returning home, she started sneezing about every 4 seconds. She was miserable! So was I. Threw a new one of these into the HVAC system, turned on the A/C, her symptoms subsided in minutes. I mean literally in about 4 minutes. If you love someone with allergies, you will know how terrible it is when you cant do anything to help them. I wish these filters had been available when my son used to suffer from seasonal allergy. This is not a luxury purchase. Now, I have not done a side-by-side comparison test, though I do have some less expensive filters sitting there just in case - or maybe Ill throw those in, in the winter months (which is about 7 months per year here). So, other filters might be just as good. I dont know and I dont care - Im gonna keep buying these because I love my wife and want her healthy and happy, not miserable.

> 3 dayIm not a filter expert, but I still have some basic standards for quality. I was just at HD and spent too much money on their flimsy premium filter to replace the Filtrete Im due to replace. When I pulled the filtrete I was amazed at just how much dust it pulled out of the air. Another thing to note is the solid construction of these filters. The competition filters I break just getting the plastic up but the Filtrete filters really holdup well. Im reordering today and tossing the flimsy ones as soon as these get here.

Greater than one weekI was using a MERV8 filter from a hardware store brand. It was fine for the first few weeks, then i started having breathing problems - i.e. was having a hard time taking deep breaths once in a while in the house. I felt like my lungs were straining when i was trying to take those deep breaths. My house has some rugs and a big dog, but mostly hardwood floors, and havent had these issues inside the house before. Resuming my allergy spray did not help. So I bought this filter from the hardware store last night and replaced the MERV8 one (it was barely 3 days old and almost new) - within about an hour, i was back to normal! No more breathing issues inside the house. If you are sensitive and prone to allergies. then this is a must buy - its not optional.
