I always have this handy tool in my shirt pocket at work, industrial maintenance. It has some great features, letting you know its on and operating. Good visual and audible indications are most useful. I replace a fair amount of 480VAC motors. No other type of tool will verify that no power is present before unwrapping the wires to disconnect them on a bad motor. Ive found it useful for troubleshooting electrical, often saving me a trip to the tool cart for a multimeter. There is 120VAC I/O at my facility which allows me to verify control signals easily. Everyone who works with electricity should have one!!!

I purchased this in 2009 and it is going strong on the original batteries. Unlike some other testers, you do have to switch this on on to use it. And you will forget to turn it back off. Not to worry - it will automatically power off after a period of non use. This little tester has survived many drops from a ladder onto hard flooring without harm. Its has saved me many electrical gotchas and many trips back and forth to the breaker panel. I would not even start any electrical work without a tester like this and the Fluke name is a real confidence builder. Whether you are an electrician or other tradesperson or just a do-it-yourselfer, you need one of these.
