> 3 dayUpdated review: The plug works perfectly with another wireless router. I worked with GE support and found it is something with the Netgear wireless router I have. So updated to 5 stars since it really works as advertised. Below is what I ran into with the Netgear Nighthawk RAX45 wireless router that I have. Worked find with a Comcast (Netgear) router, and Cisco. The Wifi keeps dropping off and once it loses connection, it will not reconnect unless you power the whole device down then back up. After that it will work for maybe a couple of hours before it loses connection again. It has the latest firmware as of this writing per the cync app. It worked well for three weeks, at that time I only had one device plugged into it. Recently I plugged a second device in and that is when the errors started happening I think. Not sure if it is 100% related but that was the only change.

> 3 dayI recently purchased the GE CYNC Outdoor Smart Plug, and while the setup process was a bit challenging, the end result was definitely worth the effort! This smart plug offers Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, making it a convenient and versatile addition to my outdoor devices. Setting up the GE CYNC Outdoor Smart Plug was a bit more involved than I had anticipated. The instructions were not as clear as I would have liked, and I encountered some difficulties in connecting the plug to my home network. However, with some patience and persistence, I was able to get it up and running after a few attempts. Once connected, the convenience of being able to control my outdoor devices remotely using my smartphone was impressive. One of the standout features of the GE CYNC Outdoor Smart Plug is its dual connectivity options. The Bluetooth functionality allows me to control the plug directly from my smartphone when I am in close proximity to it, making it perfect for quick on/off control without needing an internet connection. The Wi-Fi connectivity, on the other hand, provides me with remote control options from anywhere using my home network, which is extremely convenient when I am away from home or want to schedule specific on/off times for my outdoor devices. The versatility of the GE CYNC Outdoor Smart Plug is also noteworthy. It has two outlets, allowing me to connect and control multiple devices simultaneously. This has been particularly useful for my outdoor string lights and my garden fountain, as I can now easily turn them on and off at specific times or even control them with voice commands through my smart home system. Once set up, the performance of the GE CYNC Outdoor Smart Plug has been reliable. The connection has remained stable, and I have experienced no issues with dropped connections or malfunctioning. The plug has also held up well to outdoor conditions, as it is weather-resistant and designed to withstand the elements. In conclusion, despite the initial setup challenges, the GE CYNC Outdoor Smart Plug has proven to be a valuable addition to my outdoor devices. The combination of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, versatility, and reliable performance has made it a convenient and practical smart plug for controlling my outdoor devices. If you are willing to put in the effort during setup, the GE CYNC Outdoor Smart Plug is definitely worth considering for your outdoor smart home needs.

> 3 dayThis device works fine if you are okay with controlling the outlet manually with your phone or voice with Alexa however the scheduling feature does not work!!! First, you are only able to select an ON time for your outlet and not an off time. It still must be manually turned off…so what’s the point? When I realized this I deleted the “schedule” that I set up and even after deleting it the lights are still turning on automatically at 5pm….very frustrating! Lastly I will open the app to turn on an outlet and The toggle for the outlet will show its ON even though it’s not. I’ll have to close the app and open it new in order for it to accurately show the toggle in the correct off position.

> 3 dayThis is my second one because the other one I have is so good and reliable. Disappointed a bit because the box was ripped and taped back up with scotch tape, upon opening the device had clearly been out of the box and used before me. I plugged it in anyways and set it up and it is working and connecting remotely fine. I dont like doing this with electronics though as you never know if the previous person might have overloaded or damaged it. Just disappointed with a used one at full price. I may return it or should at least get a charge back for the difference to a used one.

> 3 dayThe desctiption said no hub needed and that is right, but I had to get in touch with the Alexa Department to get it working. Be persistent.

> 3 dayThis has to be the biggest waste of money all year! I have a no name 4 outlet plug that works way better and it was half the price. This looks nice and it seems nice but for starters, it is not very small and compact as the photos. Not a big deal. It worked for a minute with the app that has a 2 star rating but then it is continually Not Found! Restart the app and still not found. Unplug the device and plug it back in and it works! ONCE! Then you start over again. So basically you may as well save yourself some money and walk outside and pull the plug out yourself. Now try syncing with Alexa or Google Home! You think using the app was bad? You are in for an experience here! Everything works just the same as with the 2 star app! However now you can hear Alexa tell you the plug isnt responding! I would love this to be all that was bad about this but wait, theres more! In the description it says you get an outlet cover to make it usable outdoors and it show a clear plastic cover to make it usable! Yeah, it isnt in the box! The only thing in the box is the useless plug, a useless instructions manual and wait for it... 1 screw and a cheap plastic drywall anchor. You know in case you want to mount this on your drywall outside in the driveway. This is literally the second time in a week Amazon sold me garbage. They have a wonderful return policy as long as you dont mind driving it to a ups store or a Kohls or an Amazon locker. How about you pick it up when you drop off the new one that works? Or stop selling junk! Do some research before listing deal of the day items? I buy based on trust, this is obviously useless junk according to the app reviews. The app needed is called cync? When you try to connect to your Alexa or echo, there isnt a n option for this brand. If you use the selection labeled GE, it wont let you continue without a hub! So skip this and go to add skill. Then it asks for all your information and then asks are you sure? I should have taken the hint... Stay away from this unless you are in the mood to drive to return it or just waste your money. In case I didnt get my message across, this product is garbage!

11-06-2025I have two of these. Pretty much everything in my home is on a smart device. I have an Echo Dot and/or Echo Show in every room, even on my screened in porch. I have multiple smart plugs and smart bulbs, a Ring doorbell and a smart lock. All this is to point out that I am VERY familiar with setting up smart devices. This is one of the worst to set up! Both of them took MULTIPLE attempts before I was able to get them to complete the setup process. With the second one, I finally gave up and sent an email to their support. Unfortunately, they are closed on the weekends, so I got an email back that said they opened on Monday at 9am and would get back to me. They didn’t reply back to me until late Tuesday afternoon and told me that I needed to try to use a different name to set the plug up, not the one I used for my first one! Duh! I politely let them know that I’m not an idiot and that I had used a different name all 6 or 7 times I attempted to get the stupid thing to connect! I eventually tried again and fortunately it finally connected! What both of mine did (in case you buy this and have the same issue) - it would go through the whole set up, naming the room the plug would be in, naming each outlet, connecting to the WiFi, etc and the last step would say “Cannot add device” (see photo). When it finally was able to set up it was after I had had to turn my phone off and back on (for a completely unrelated issue), so maybe try that too. Once installed, it was super easy to add it to my Alexa app and it works great. The onscreen set up for it is great with animations showing you step by step. They just need to do something to make it connect and finish the set up better. Would easily give this 5 stars if that were fixed.

> 3 dayPurchased this for outside Christmas lights. No issues and was easy to use.
