So I have a 4gb model raspberry pi 4 that I want to run some emulators on. I overclocked it to 2ghz core speed and 700mhz video clock speed. This little thing runs very hot though, and will throttle down at 85c. I installed this, pushed a Dreamcast emulator to run Marvel vs Capcom 2, and it never went above 38c, mostly at 37 (I am running a monitor on my main PC to test).

Cant believe I bought a cooler with RGB lights but here it is. Like all on my computers, if I am now actually sitting in front of it, then its running some distributed-processing app like the old seti. I use 100% of available processors 85% of the time. The color is supposed to indicate temperature and its all blue and green. Just checked a temperature sensor in the Pi and its reading 47 C. Sounds pretty good to me.

This is actually my second one - I liked the first one so much that when I bought a second Raspberry PI 4, there was no debate as to which cooler I was going to use. Easy to mount, quiet, and works like a charm. Great build quality - it just works, as opposed others I tried. (Pimoroni Fan Shim, Im looking at you!) My idle temps are around 27 degrees C, and the Pi stays well within safe limits even when overclocked.

I am very happy with this case. The cooling tower keeps my Raspberry Pi very cool. The installation instructions were very complete and simple to follow. I particularly like the Oled display which displays the IP address, CPU load, temperature in Celsius, memory usage and disk usage. The built-in LEDs provide a nice colorful touch. The Oled stats can be programmed to run in the background and and load when the Pi boots up. It does not interfere with any other sketch you are running. All in all this is a very impressive unit.

Temperatures are definitely low, but through empirical testing, a quite small copper heatsink with a fan aimed at it produced lower temperatures in the same ambient environment. I suspect the heat-pipe in this probably isnt of great quality so even though the fan and the fins are excellent, there isnt great heat transfer to them.

I bought this based on recommendation from Alex Ellis blog. He rated several cooling options for the Pi 4. Ive found this to work very well for my use, which is for a small linux desktop in my workshop. Ive had cooling issues when I received my first Pi 4, but havent since I installed this fan.

This restricts or pretty much prevents use with any enclosure, but it works. I plugged mine into the 3.3 v and it is inaudible. Still I see no high temperatures or thermal throttling. I ran sysbench with 8 threads fully occupying the four cores--the chip temperature only went up to 55c. I do wish you could turn off the lights though.

This took my Pi4b overclocked at 1750 from 53C to 24C. I added the extra fan on the other 5v connector and put it on the other side of the heatsink. I am also using thermal paste fyi.

Ok so I watched eta primes video on these hence how I found it but wow I have my pi4 overclocked to 2ghz and ran a stress test for over an hour with this cooler on it and it reached a max temp of 52 degrees Celsius with a base running temp between 30-32 ambient room temp is 75 for the tests so color me impressed and a happy customer

Description:

  • According to Moore"s law, the design of high-speed and high-density printed circuit board (PCB) is becoming more and more complex.
  • Higher processing performance will generate more heat.
  • This super ICE Tower CPU Cooling Fan for Raspberry Pi is burned for solving heat dissipation problem!
  • Tower structure, 5mm copper tube, multi-layer heat sinks, 7 blades powerful fan, all the above combinations make this super radiator for Raspberry Pi.
  • In the case of overclocking, it can reduce the temperature of the Raspberry Pi from 80℃ to 40℃.
  • Best of all, this super cooling fan support both Raspberry Pi 3 and the new Raspberry Pi 4.
  • When the fan turns up, you will see the color of ice. Blue LED lights show the concept of ice, It"s the origin of its name.
