Such an easy to use soldering iron with a smaller size for female hands. Lite and easy to manage! I’m looking forward to lots of use and satisfaction with my stained glass!

The Hakko FX-601 is designed to allow the tip to be easily exchanged--for example, if you want to do PCB soldering, youll want a pointed tip instead of a chisel tip. Unfortunately, as of the time of this writing, tips for the FX-601 solder (the T19 series) are very hard to find and expensive. Hakko also offers a nut and tip enclosure combination, part # B3730, which allows you to convert your FX-601 to an FX-600, thus allowing you to use the more plentiful and cheaper T18 series of tips, Unfortunately again, as of the time of this writing, its impossible to get ahold of part # B3730 unless perhaps you live in Japan or have someone who can ship parts to you from Japan. I love this solder--it heats up quickly, and makes the soldering process a smooth and pleasant one. But Im also frustrated with it because it has the potential for a lot more thats pretty much impossible to utilize. If you want to do stained glass but want greater flexibility in your tool, you might considering going for the FX-600 to begin with and purchase a chisel tip (T18-C/BC series) for stained glass. Or maybe consider the 800- or 900-series stations, with their better tip options. You can find details for the FX-601 at hakko.com: [...] You can find details for the FX-600 at hakko.com: [...]

I will buy this product again, when the time comes...The only thing that bothers me is...the packaging says, it is FX-601 although it is a FX-601 02. It makes the consumer wonder if they had ordered the correct model of the product.

Bought two after reading an article that said these were one of the best tools for stained glass work. Have used them on two projects so far and the temp control is great for flowing the solder, with both the copper tape and the leading.

I bought this for stained glass work. It is, without a doubt the best iron I have ever used. Had an Inland 100w that took 5 - 10 minutes to heat up and then cycled hot/cold. My projects looked like crap. I was about to give up on stained glass but decided to give this Hakko a shot. Hakko makes me look like a pro. Heats up to temp in seconds, maintains constant heat and is very light and manoeuvrable. A complete joy to use. BUY IT!

This is great. It gets to temperature fast and stays there. It is light and easy to handle.

I’ve tried several irons and just wasn’t very good at soldering and thought it was because I am fairly new at working with stained glass. I decided to try this iron after reading many reviews. I love this iron and my soldering has improved 99%. It’s comfortable to use and stays hot without cooling down.

The Hakko FX601-02 is the next generation of variable temperature-controlled soldering irons. It is ideal for soldering applications that require mobility or a long reach, such as soldering solar panels, etc. The extremely lightweight, ergonomic handpiece allows you to solder for long periods of time without hand fatigue. The soldering iron also features a convenient temperature adjustment dial in the handpiece that allows the user to select their optimal soldering temperature, and the advanced electronic controls and efficient ceramic heater provide accuracy and stability that rival older Hakko stick irons.
