Just insert the tip under the thread and turn the handle ever so slightly. No plunging or stabbing necessary. Once you try this type of seam ripper, youll never go back to the old type.

Have not found better product than the handle and blades for ripping seams. Curved and straight blades are great for other cutting projects too. Another good thing is the fast and accurate delivery from amazon.
