> 3 dayUPDATE: After using these bags for my new dog, I can say they are well worth their cost. They tear off their dispenser with ease, they never break, they make pick up easier, and they leave plenty of bag to tie. I’m sold on these bags — see what you think. Hippo bags are large plastic bags for collecting your dog’s excrement while on a walk or from the yard. They come in a package of 200 with a dispenser. I’m sold on these bags — see what you think. WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT HIPPO BAGS?: 1) They are large, 15 x 20 inches in size. This is more than twice the size of other large poop bags but they take up about the same amount of space in my pocket as the smaller ones. 2) Hippo bags have never split or leaked for my. 3) Hippo bags have a dispenser that really works. Hold the dispenser in one hand, pull out the end of the bag roll, and it will stop right at the next bag perforation. Pull harder, and the bag tears at just the right place. That saves a lot of time. You can even mount the holder in a drawer (see the photo at left and on the box). 4) The OPEN end is clearly labeled in huge letters. So, you never fumble. 5) They are unscented. That means that my hands, pockets, and sleeves don’t smell like cheap industrial perfume. And, by the way, perfume on poop isn’t fooling anyone. HOW DO YOU USE HIPPO BAGS?: As the Godfather of Soul said, ‘Papa don’t take no mess!’ and that’s what you are saved with Hippo bags. I just shake out the folded bag and reach inside all the way to the bottom, and keep the bag straight as I pick up the mess. Then I hold my hand around the poop and use the other hand to pull the Hippo Bag inside out — there is plenty to tie at the top and my hand stays clean! CONSIDERATIONS: 1) As far as I know, these bags are not biodegradable. However, they are made from recycled plastic (polyethylene) so they have already been recycled once, already. That’s nice. 2) Hippo bags are more expensive than standard 9 x 13 inch unscented poop bags — I figure you are paying about 4 cents more per bag. After using them, I think it’s worth it. RECOMMENDATIONS: You just have to try these bags. The only thing I would do differently next time is to try the Hippo Bags made from plastic recycled from the ocean. When my bag supply runs out, I’ll review them for you. To read my reviews, check for updates, or follow my profile, click my name, above. I hope this review has been really helpful for you. Enjoy your dog!
