Greater than one weekI have had this carpet cleaner for over 2 years and it has been fantastic. I have had to use it so many times to either clean messes that the kids or pets have made. This has actually done a very great job at cleaning my carpets this entire time. The one real issue I have with this model is the Dirty Water Container. There is only one port hole that you use to empty dirty water and try to clean it out. You cannot give this container any proper cleaning what so ever and that was something I really wish I knew about before I bought it. Not having been able to properly clean it out this entire time has given this thing a weird funk smell and I do not want to pay the $60 just to buy a new container that I will continue to have the same issue. I just upgraded to the SmartWash Model, that was just one sale, but honestly you can get the Advanced Model and it will work just a great as this one PLUS you can actually open the lid to the Dirty Water Container and can actually clean it out properly after each use. Other than that one issue, I have had no other issues with this. That cleaner was used to clean multiple rooms almost weekly and it was honestly still running strong.

> 3 dayI didn’t realize how big it was and I have a small apartment. I was wondering if I can replace it with a smaller one and when delivered pick up the one I have. I’m new at this so thought I would check. Thank Youize

> 3 dayOverall, Im pleased with this Hoover carpet cleaner. We have several large area rugs in our newly built home that havent been cleaned (only vacuumed) since we moved in 18 months ago. We were thinking about getting a professional rug cleaner to do the job, but saw that this carpet cleaner would cost less than a one time cleaning by a professional. The reviews were good so we decided to give it a try. Unpacking and assembly was very easy. No tools required. The quick use guide was good if youre the kind of person that doesnt want to take the time to read the entire manual. The manual itself goes into just the right amount of detail to tell you everything you need to know. The machine is very easy to use. Just put warm water into the tank up to the first fill line. Then add the cleaning formula up to the second fill line. The two fill lines take the guess work out of how much formula to use (as long as youre using the correct formula for the machine). Dumping the waste water is easy... just squeeze the handle on top, lift out, dump and reinsert. The machine is very light and easy to handle. Its a very easy machine to use. As far as cleaning, the machine does a pretty good job cleaning my rugs. The waste water was a very dark brown, so it definitely sucked a lot of dirt out. Visually, it was apparent that our rugs looked much cleaner after cleaning them with this machine. So, I am pleased with the result. Especially considering that this machine only cost us $99.00. There were a few spots on our rugs the machine did not get up. So I used my Bissell spot cleaning machine to get those out. Some dirty spots just require a little more muscle and time. One cleaning note - the warm water, formula and scrubbing this machine does will definitely loosen the dirt. But if you rush going back over the carpet to suck out the dirty water, the results wont be as good. I found that a couple of extra passes over the carpet with just the suction on to suck out all the dirty water possible will bring better results. Does this machine clean as well as a professional cleaning? Probably not, especially on deep rugs and carpet. But I dont believe there is much difference between the effectiveness of the two options. If youre willing to purchase this thing and do the work yourself as opposed to using a professional, youll save a lot of money. The question now is, how long will this machine last? Some of the reviews indicate it could die within a year or two. I guess it depends partly on how often you use it. But if I get two years out it, it will be worth the purchase. What would I change about this little rug cleaner? First of all, I wish the electrical cord was longer, but its not a big deal. Second, I wish the two tanks held more water. You have to empty the waste tank and refill the clean water tank often. To clean 5 large rugs and 4 smaller rugs in my home, I refilled the clean water tank a dozen times. I dumped the waster water tank 7 times. Its a bit aggravating to have to refill and dump so many items. But I guess its a trade off to make the machine lighter and easier to handle. I only found one problem with the machine. The machine is designed to stop vacuuming whenever the waste tank is full. There is a full tank line on the waste container. The problem is that the machine stops vacuuming before the full tank line is reached. It took me a little time to figure out what the heck was going on when it stopped vacuuming. Once you know it will stop vacuuming a little short of the line, its not a big deal. But I want to mention it in case those reading this review experienced the same problem. So, I do recommend this machine. Its does a nice job cleaning carpet and rugs. It will save you money if youre willing to do the work yourself.

> 3 dayFor the money this is a no brainer. The machine does extremely well with good suction power. It is easy to clean and to use. The stair tool works excellent. I was surprised how good that it was for the price. I have used commercial equipment in the past many times, and can say that the results are about the same as this. It is possible that this machine does slightly better since it has the rollers to do deep cleaning. With a commercial cleaner you need to scrub the carpets with a carpet rake to get it this good. The amount of dirt that came out of the carpet is incredible. I have used other residential carpet cleaners too and this one is way better than the others I have tried. I dont think that it is too loud but it is what I would expect from anything this powerful. The cord could be longer but adding an extension cord or moving to another plug is not that hard. The dirty tank comes on and off with no trouble. It is pretty light when its empty, but seems to be made good. Was really easy to set up and understand how to use it. Came with a sample bottle of shampoo and I was happy about that. It was enough to do a couple of rooms. Also, to clean the brushes it is super easy and you dont have to flip it over to do it so that is a major bonus. Everything comes apart for maintenance and there isnt much they didnt think of when making this. I give 5 stars. So glad I got it. Cannot speak for the life of the thing, but I dont see any issues after cleaning all my carpet. (there is a lot of it) Highly recommend and love this cleaner.

14-06-2025I dont have a long history with wet vacs for comparison. And I had hoped to find a handheld cat barf cleaner, which is a common occurrence around my house of three cats, 2 are seniors. Plus I have a toddler, need I say more? But after reading many reviews, I opted for this unit instead of a handheld. I put off putting it together for a week thinking it would be a pain in the butt to assemble, despite reviews saying that it was easy. That was a mistake in and of itself, as it is *extraordinarily* easy to put together and can be done and ready to use in 5 minutes or less. No tools required, no points of frustration. Because I put off putting it together, I had a couple of spots of cat barf sitting on my brand new carpet. I had spot treated them, but now the carpet was crispy where I had cleaned them manually. My eldest cat threw up again and I thought enough is enough, I need to put this thing together. I retreated the old spots and got them wet again with some vinegar and water. I cleaned up the old and new spots and confirmed with a black light flashlight that they were 100% clean. Let me repeat that, 100% clean! And the old spots were soft again once the carpet dried. This thing is saving my new carpet. Im about to sell my house so its critical that I have perfect carpet, as I spent good money to get good thick carpet and padding (before I knew I was selling). Could you clean your whole room? Oh yeah, definitely. You might have to refill the tank, but they built it in such a way its so easy to refill, AND8 clean, It would be no trouble at all to clean an entire room. It has separate clean and dirty water tanks. And you need very little concentrated cleaning fluid for the soap to water ratio. So even the sample that comes with it is enough to last a while, even though I went ahead and purchased a large container from the get-go. It will probably last me a lifetime. I almost wish my cats would pee on the carpet so I can test that, but lets not get crazy here. I do believe that this unit would clean up cat urine completely though. Its so thorough! You cant get your carpet clean without good suction, and this sucker has GREAT suction. The carpet is almost dry when the job is complete. And the carpet is completely dry within an hour, leaving it soft and like new again. I cant speak to it cleaning stairs, as I dont have any stairs in my home. I can imagine it might be a bit of a pain. But I think that stairs are going to be a pain no matter what unit you use. Theres no handheld attached, If thats something youre looking for. But it was excellent at cleaning right against the wall too. I was thinking about paying the super big bucks to get wood floors throughout my new home thats being built, for the sole reason that my senior cats throw up. Having this unit buys me peace of mind that I can get carpet in my bedrooms, which I prefer. This little lightweight unit will save me at least $10k, by opting for carpet in my bedrooms instead of wood, and having the peace of mind that I can clean any mess. Can you tell I love this unit yet? You will too. I havent had it long enough to speak to longevity. But it seems like a solid unit. I personally think the price point is appropriate too.

> 3 dayI bought this thing on the basis of all the good reviews it got. I had a larger Bissell machine for many years and I was largely satisfied with it. But I wanted something a little more compact and lighter. Pros: This thing really is more like a slightly heavier, regular vacuum cleaner in use, which means it is an awful lot easier to push around. It seems to clean about as well as my big beast of a Bissell did, maybe even a bit better, judging by how much filthy water it ultimately pulled up from my carpet. The routine cleaning of the machine, rinsing out the parts etc. after you are done using it seems fairly easy, a bit easier than my old Bissell because you can take the suction head off easily and run it under the sink and it was reasonably easy to pull the inevitable bits of dog hair and carpet fuzz off the rollers. It was noisy, but not much noisier than my old machine. Cons: Water is heavy, and a big reason why this thing is lighter and easier to use is that the water tanks are much smaller. The water dispenser bottle is like two Nalgene bottles put together, which means you get less than 10 minutes of run time with the water spraying. So you have to stop, refill the clean water and empty the dirty water tank much more frequently than you will with a larger machine. If you are cleaning a very big room nowhere near a sink or tub, that will get old soon. The brush head is narrower as well, meaning more passes are required to clean the same area. So buying something like for most people is going to be a kind of a pick-your-poison thing. Either you can get a big heavy machine that is more work to push around or something lighter that requires more trips to the sink and so will take you a fair bit more time to handle a large area. If you have a huge house full of wall-to-wall carpet with kids and dogs etc. this is probably not the machine for you. If you have a few area rugs that you want to give a deep clean once or twice a year, this will be ideal. If you are somewhere between these two extremes, you just need to decide what is more important to you. It seems fairly well built for the price, which is not the same thing as actually heavy-duty. It strikes me as something that should last a while if it gets only occasional use and you are reasonably gentle with it. But if you are pulling this out every week, that may be asking a lot of something this inexpensive. So far, I have only discovered two obvious design flaws: (1) There is actually a small lip around the drain plug you use to drain the water from the dirty water tank, which makes it needlessly difficult to get the very last fraction of an ounce of water out of the dirty water tank. This is really only annoying when you clean the machine to put it away, it means that part will take forever to dry. (2) The power cord is attached to the bottom of the machine, not up by the handle. It should have some kind of clip to keep it up out of the way, and I found that if I wasnt careful Id keep running over the cord. It would cost literally no money to put a clip for the cord up by the handle, but I guess I will be putting a zip tie on it instead. BTW, having had one of these home carpet cleaning machines for years, the most important tip I can give anybody just starting with one of these things is this: NEVER just run the soap/water solution through the machine and stop. Not only is the job only half done, but worse, the soap residue will dry inside the hoses and mechanism and eventually clog everything up and ruin the machine. Instead, you want to rinse out the clean/water soap mix thing and then run plain water through the machine at least 2x as much as the soap loads. So if you put down 3 loads of soap, plan on running 6 loads of clear water minimum through the machine to get all of that soap you laid down back out of the carpet. As you will soon see, the plain hot water will continue to pull out tons of additional dirt from the carpet along with the soap, and you want the carpet soap out of the carpet before you stop anyway. How do you know when you are done? You should keep going, using just plain water at least until you arent seeing lots of soaping foam coming back out of the carpet, and ideally until the water you are pulling from the carpet is no longer utterly filthy. If the dirty water still has some dirt in it, but it is no longer black as coal and you can start to see through it, that is when you should be about done. And then run the machine over the whole carpet again without any clear water in it to suck up any residual water in the carpet. That will help the carpet dry more quickly. Here was my experience in cleaning an admittedly filthy 8x10 foot rug. First I needed just under two full loads of the soap/water mix to cover the entire carpet. Then I needed to run another 4 loads of plain water to largely remove the soap from the carpet. Then I ran the machine empty over the entire rug several times to get the residual water out of the carpet. All in, it took quite a while and was a fair bit of work, but the end result was excellent, the carpet looks a whole lot better than it did. Overall, I recommend this thing, it is not for everybody, but it should fit the bill for a lot of people.

Greater than one weekReally liked this product; its perfect for small rugs and steps. Suction power is great, and it comes with a small bottle of cleaner, too. Easy to use. My only complaint is that when you are all done with it and put it away, whatever little bit of water is left in the container (its nearly impossible to get it bone dry) leaks out of the bottom of the machine. We put a cloth underneath it to soak it up. Otherwise great machine.
