Quick way to make a simple gift. Kit will make 3 wine carriers from scraps. I used the basic shape of the batting to make additional wine carriers for friends.

I have done other quilt-as-you-go projects, so I am familiar with the technique. I think the instructions could have been a little bit more explanatory (like suggesting when it would be a good idea to baste before sewing, how best to position/finish the binding and how to deal with the overlapped material on the third version with the slanted pieces) but they were obviously trying to get all of the instructions on a single page. The toughest part was sewing the binding on because it has to be done on a curve and there is material left over at each end that the instructions dont explain what to do with. If you have sewing experience, it should be a breeze. Ive attached a picture of my first set, for which I used complementary fat quarters that I thought coordinated well. For the set Im working on now, Im using a jelly roll because it has the advantage of the fabric already being cut in 2.5 widths which works for most of the pieces needed and also because the included fabric patterns are already complementary to each other so it takes the pressure off from having to find 10 or so matching/complementary pieces of fabric. You just have to augment the jelly roll fabric with some fabric that can be used for the pieces that require a dimension greater than 2.5 inches which are few.

I just finished sewing these three totes . The directions were clear and I used scraps, so low cost. I plan to give these for holiday gifts with a bottle of wine inside. Though this kit provided printed batting for three totes, I intend to use directions and basic pattern to make more. A fun and quick project with positive results.

Three wine tote patterns printed on batting for easy sew-by-number construction. Apply your backing fabric, cut your fabrics per instructions and sew by number. Quick and easy way to create the perfect hostess gift! !
