Wow… just wow

Product was easy to use. Gives you a quick go/no-go answer on whether a cable is working. In my case, I found an issue with a cat 5 wall connector in which a couple of wires had fallen off. The tool does not provide indication for individual wires but at least it gave a clue on the issue and led to quick resolution of the problem. So I would say it is a great tool for the DIY homeowner and worth the cost.

My husband and and I just bought our first home. Built in 1925 it does not have hardwired Ethernet, but lots of old telephone cables. I am no way a handyman, but I am gay and so I figured I could do anything. Well, after many frustrated attempts to run, and terminate cable I needed a lifeline.

Works fine

Buy a more expensive tester that can show individual wires. If 1 wire is broken this tester shows the same reading as if you are testing a completely different cable. This thing wasted hours of my time this weekend running in circles. Avoid.

Hit or miss results. False positive results frequent on the unit I received.

Does the basics really well. Will tell you if there’s minor issues with your network cable. For more in-depth readings you’ll require a more advanced unit but this is a good entry level device for someone doing a small home or office project. Word of advice keep a small piece of plastic to stop the battery from connecting when not in use or just take it out.

Excellent tool. It is easy to tell if the connector is wired correctly or if the wire is damaged. The removable end makes checking the full length after installation easy. I caught myself making a couple mistakes (out of 50 or more connectors, not bad)..
