> 3 dayI like these locks because 1) they are sturdy and 2) they are simple to rekey for contractors, in-laws, renters, etc. They are also simple to install except for the deadbolt plate, which Ive only successfully retrofitted into a small percentage of my replacements (that plate is bigger than most and so the notch and screwholes rarely line up without a new screw half in an old hole - I end up just using the existing deadbolt plate, which is slightly less secure but not worthy of a lost star). It does lose a star for me by providing identical keys for multiple locksets I purchased (I wouldnt have realized this had I not bought several at one time). I wouldnt use the key that comes with the lock for this reason, except maybe to rekey a lock temporarily for a contractor, guest, etc. The only other downside to this lock is if you mess up the re-keying. You have to either have a reset tool or take it to Lowes or similar store (and for me that has to be when the one old guy who knows how to use the re-keying tool is there so its a big hassle).

> 3 dayThis is my third time buying Kwikset locks. They are easy to install and very secure. It took me roughly an hour to get these installed and thats with having to redrill the holes in my door and doorjamb. Super easy to change the key to match the key that unlocks the rest of my house.

> 3 dayThese two lock sets were purchased to replace lock sets that were not smart locks. Having same key for entire home is what drove this purchase!!

Old but not always Wise
> 3 dayI screwed up the re-keying process. THEN I looked on the Kiwkset website and their step-by-step video of the process made me understand how I went wrong. I called their 800 customer service line and their agent, Dewey was very helpful. He gave me choices to resolve my issue and now I understand how simple it is to do it correctly- thats all the difference between a mess and a good working product [and what was a very unhappy wife]. Like everything, the lock business has changed and continues to evolve. I originally planned to by what used to be a superior lockset but my research took me back to Kiwkset. Im going to change all my locks to Kwikset as a result of this experience.

> 3 dayI replaced ALL my exterior door fixtures. The original ones were just to old. Kwikset has the SmartKey process which allows me to keep my original keys, and just change these locks. It was a breeze, except for one of the three deadbolts. I thought I had done something wrong, but finally decided one female side of the deadbolt was threaded incorrectly. I called the 800 number, talked to a nice young gentleman, read him the product info he requested, and the NEXT day a FedEx package arrived with the tumbler unit to replace my defective unit. Cost me NOTHING except the phone call. Installed the new tumbler unit AND rekeyed it in LESS than five minutes. So, the product is great, not expensive. You can rekey everything yourself......saves more money. Finally, the tech support is top notch. If you dont buy these you are just plain silly.
