> 24 hourI purchased this fan because of Lasko name even though it was a little more expensive. When it arrived the box appeared to have been opened prior to arriving so I was a little suspicious that it had been returned and then reshipped. However when I plugged it in, it worked great. It was very quiet for a high velocity fan. After using it for a couple of days it began making a loud whining noise. The noise is not constant, it comes and goes. If I turn off the fan for while it will run fine for a couple of hours before making the noise. The longer I use the fan the louder the noise gets. I have tried repositioning the fan without sucess. The noise is coming from the motor so I figure it will go out soon. I have a cheap no name high velocity fan that is a little louder (air noise) but works much better. I am very disappointed with the sub par quality of this Lasko one. I would recommend not wasting your money. It might be a one off but I am not going to spend more money to test that.

> 24 hourIn Western Washington, most residential buildings, including my own, do not include air conditioning of any sort. So I needed a fan that could circulate air throughout an entire home. The Lasko 2265QM does that job well for the most part. Positioned properly, it can blow in cool air from shaded areas outside, and provide a pleasant breeze pretty much anywhere. When the temperature gets especially high, sitting in front of the fan provides instant and persistent relief. The three speed settings can be described as high, higher and hurricane. There simply isnt a lot of nuance. Even on the lowest setting, this fan can cycle all the air in a typical bedroom within a minute. Other reviews have commented on the volume of the fan. They are all correct, and you should heed their warnings. I initially shrugged them off, but after getting the fan, I really was surprised by how loud it could be. At full speed, the Lasko 2265QM will sound not unlike a small propeller driven aircraft at idle throttle. The lower settings do little to reduce the noise, and mostly just change the pitch of sound. The overall construction of the fan is decent. Attaching the stand and control box was trivial and didnt require much effort. The front grill can be removed, but there should be no reason to do this. The control box is the only thing that feels like it was cheaply made. But its good enough that it shouldnt be an issue throughout the useful life of the fan. The motor is housed within a plastic shroud, although it appears that under the shroud is a metal casing for the motor itself. I noticed that the plastic motor shroud can get hot during sustained operation. Not to the point where Im concerned it could catch fire. But hot enough for me to be weary of touching it when the fan has been on for awhile. If placed on an uneven surface, the force of the air being blown can cause the fan to topple. It would be nice if the stand had a bit more depth, but this is only problematic if the fan is placed on a soft or uneven surfaces. I get a lot of use out of this fan, but I prefer to only use for about an hour at a time, especially at night when I have the chance to circulate cool air into my room. Anything longer than an hour though, and I prefer to use a quieter fan. Pros: - Can quickly circulate the air in a room - Can provide modest ventilation for a home - Sturdy construction - Easy assembly - Works as advertised Cons: - It really is loud. - Cheap control box - Motor shroud can get hot - Stand my not work well on soft/uneven surfaces - Little difference between speed settings

> 24 hourI wasnt too concerned with the other reviews about the whining noise when I bought this fan. I needed it move air and it does just that very well. The whining noise does exist however but Ive noticed it seems to be intermittent at first and then will go away completely after about 15 minutes of running. If you change the speed youll probably hear it again as the fan is spinning up or down. It also seems to be worse after the fan has been left off for a long period of time. I dont really consider this a negative thing or a flaw with the design. I can imagine it being something related to the type of bearing they used in this or blade harmonics. I use this fan, with other strategically placed fans, to move air through my house to cool it off. Open a window on the hot end of the house and one or more on the cooler end. Set this fan up on the floor on the cool end pointing toward the rest of the house. OR have this fan blowing air directly out of the open window on the hot end of the house. Its not perfect, and central air would be nicer, but it works like a charm. The only real complaint I have is that the cord is too short for my liking. Throughout the day I sometimes need to move this thing to a different spot and it cant always reach the outlet. An extension cord fixes that problem but for this price I would have appreciated a much longer cord.

> 24 hourI just received the Lasko. This fan is not as powerful as my Powermax High Velocity fan I got for about $20 cheaper at Walmart a year ago. That doesnt mean that the Lasko is not a good fan. But Ive been running my Powermax for 10 hrs. in the daytime and for about 8 hours thru the night and wanted a second fan so Id be less likely to burn out either fan motor from running that long by itself. The Lasko is a little louder than the Powermax but the noise doesnt bother me, especially at night. Ill probably run the Lasko at night since its the loudest, and the Powermax in the daytime so I can hear the TV. :) The 3 Lasko fan speeds are not much different from each other. You will notice only a slight fan speed jump from the first speed to the 2nd, and the 2nd to the 3rd. However, the lowest Powermax speed is more powerful than the highest Lasko speed. Im afraid to use the 3rd speed on the Powermax for fear it might just take off. Its super loud. But the wind it blows just doesnt go very far beyond the fan, maybe 10 feet? Sounds a lot more powerful than it is. Maybe they just need to tweek the blades? The test as to whether or not I keep the Lasko will be tonight when I touch the motor to see if it has gotten hot after running for at least 8 hours. Ill let you know. The Powermax motor does get hot but Ive not run it continually more than 10 hours at a time. My only complaints with the Powermax are that the motor does get hot after hours of use, and there is NO brand name anywhere on the model. I didnt know what it was until I found it in the description online at Walmart. The Lasko should meet the needs of almost anyone needing a powerful fan. It gets good reviews and it seems to be reliable, lasting for a long time. So of course I would recommend it. Oh...my new Lasko is the black one and its a good looking fan. And it couldnt be simpler to set up. Itll take you about 30 seconds. You only need to snap on the legs and screw in the Dial that sits on the leg. (I wish these guys would put the Dial on the top of the fan.) Im just using it as a floor fan. So....after Ive tested the Lasko motor to see if it gets hot after many hours of use, Ill come back and let you know. Edit: It looks like you could run this Lasko fan 24/7 and it wont ever get hot. Ive very pleased about that but... Be WARNED....there is a metal part that sticks out on the left side as youre facing the fan and Ive got a nice bloody gash on my calf as a result of walking past it in the night. The metal piece is about as high as eye level for a medium sized dog so just be aware of that and do what you can to cover that part with something so it cant do damage to animals and humans. :)

> 24 hourUsing to direct air into the Shop attic to help dry out musty, damp odors following a wet winter. I let it run about 6 hours a day 7-days a week on Low. Not overly noisy but not whisper quiet either.

> 24 hourI have had this fan for around 2 years and I use it in my bedroom. All the settings are really strong and loud but it works perfectly as white noise to help me sleep and my puppy also likes the fan. It is a little heavier and annoying to move around, but it has not had any more complications for me. Im sure it will last for many more years.
