LEGO Creator Expert Volkswagen Beetle 10252 Construction Set (1167 Pieces)

My son (25yrs old) loved and finished it in 1 1/2 hours.

My grandson really liked the VW and is a whiz at construction!

They love it! They both own a old school Volkswagen. So I thought this would be the perfect give. They love it but my dad won’t build it. XD

Warning! Building this was so fun I fell down a Lego Creator wormhole and NEEDED to buy more kits! You will too! Great quality and details, you can tell this kit was created by a real Bug lover like myself. Love it!

This is the second Lego Volkswagon Beetle along with set 10187 released in 2008. Set 10187 had 1627 compared to 1167 pieces for this set but Good Lord was the original Beetle a messy build. I have no doubt that set 10252 uses more specialized pieces to achieve its cleaner look. On the other hand 10187 came out only three years before the Volkwagon T1 Camper Van and the van looks FAR better. Of the four large Lego Creator vehicles I own which includes the Camper Van (10220), Mini Cooper (10242) and Ferrari F40 (10248) this is now my new favorite. I have it sitting on a dresser with my other Creator vehicles and I find it the most attractive of the four. This is a very fun and creative build. It seems like every year Lego raises the bar and this one is really something special. Its one of the more challenging builds Ive done but there was only one occasion where I had to redo a small section. Its also sturdier than the Mini Cooper which has a rather flimsy roof and the Beetle probably could get some play from a child without falling apart. I love the surfboard and thermos on the roof and Lego includes in interesting way to keep them in place. As with all the large Creator vehicles the Beetle has an openable trunk and hood as well as working doors and modestly adjustable seats. All in all a great set and a joy to build.
