LEGO Star Wars Slave l – 20th Anniversary Edition 75243 Building Kit (1007 Pieces)

If, like me, you missed out on the original Boba Fett Slave I ship from a couple of decades ago, this opportunity and the added design elements of this set look too good to pass up. The old 75060 model was a bit bigger, and the mini figures were different (a Bespin guard and a stormtrooper), but this set makes up for it with more specific characters and a more sophisticated design. It is a complex build and a lot of fun. Having said that, my main disappointment is the added feature of the included 20th anniversary Princess Leia figure, which follows the original design of her being the generic Lego figure in a Leia suit. As you know, contemporary Lego sets based on various franchises ditch the generic Lego people design. At this pricey cost, It would have been a bit more welcome and generous if Lego had included the classic Leia and the contemporary design to place them side by side to show how the design has evolved over twenty years. Thats a minor quibble, however--the main reason to get this set is the cool ship, and it is cool and fun.

My 10 year old absolutely loved putting this together. It took him between 3-4 hours. After assembly he can play with it and it stays put together relatively well. Like any LEGO set you are always having to rebuild when playing with it. He really likes the figures that came with the set and I find that he regularly carries them around with him.

This is a great set 10/10 would buy again if its on sale its a nice build and the figs are great, good for play

Ordered item for my sons birthday last minute...thank god foe 1 day shipping!!! He loved the set. Everything with the set seems fine...haven’t had any complaints from my son (who will definitely tell you if something is off).

My wife got me this for my 29th birthday. It had been a long, long time since I’d built a new LEGO set, but once I got in the groove, I couldn’t stop. Took me around 4 hours total, but for less fanatical builders I would set aside 6-8 hours. I was very impressed with the structure and realism of this set. It is incredibly sturdy and features an intricate three-dimensional skeleton that uses a good number of “technic” pieces. This set now sits in my office, and unlike when I was a child, I have no urge to strip it for parts. A wonderful gift, and a true testament to LEGO’s ongoing engineering advancements.

This is a very nice Star Wars Lego build. It comes with 8 bags of Legos, 5 minifigs (including a limited edition 20th anniversary princess Leia) and a Carbonite Han Solo. The Carbonite mold does not match the Han Solo minifig very well as the minifig is the new Han Solo and the Carbonite is the old Han Solo. The Han minifig that comes with this set does fit in it, though only barely because of his hair. This kit has clear instructions and took an experienced adult Lego builder about 3 hours to put together. My 5 year old put it together later, with a little help over several afternoons. It makes a medium sized functional and accurate ship that is fun to play with, my son has been flying it around the house shouting pew pew. Several of the minifigs have double sided faces. A quality set for Lego and star wars enthusiasts, just be aware of which Han minifig it comes with.

Theres really nothing to dislike about this Slave 1 set. The 1007-piece build is very enjoyable and the finished product is awesome. When built, the ship is nice and sturdy no matter where you handle it. The carry handle is a really cool feature and the fact that it retracts and nests away, when you dont want to use the handle, is great. The seat in the cockpit is gravity-balanced, as are the wings if you assemble them without too much tension. There are little red levers on the underside that shoot the spring-loaded missiles all the way on the other side of the ship, which is really cool. The mechanism works great, and its an interesting part of the build. I think the pricing at $120 is fair; I think if this were not a Star Wars set it would probably be more like $100, but you do get a lot of neat things in this set and the extra $20 is probably worth the extra cool factor. This was a 3 hour build for me and my 6 year old. It would be too complicated for a 6 year old to do it alone, but together we had a good time building it. I think the recommended age guide of 10+ is pretty accurate, but younger kids can certainly enjoy it with some assistance in the build. This set does not disappoint. Its great as a toy and as a Star Wars collectible. Highly recommended!
