Its certainly safe, durable, washable, lightweight, comes with a great storage bag and has an adorable pattern! As with so many plastic products, I was concerned about a plastic smell, but this mat has none. I looked at many, MANY mats and found this to be the safest in regards to safety standards. Another reviewer commented that you wouldnt regret getting this mat. Im super glad I did!

Greater than one weekThis is really cute (the animal print side at least). But after four months of use (maybe 1-2 total hours per day with a 6-9 month old) parts of the plastic are peeling back. It seems like if theres anything with an edge at all (eg baby fingernails or toys), it can easily puncture the super thin top coating and reveal the inner foam. Obviously not super safe for a baby in this case - dont want him picking at it and pulling off a piece of plastic to eat!
