Im very impressed by the quality and speed of these, given their price. They came packaged very nicely in foam, as well. The body is silicone, and the cap is metal. The only complaint I have about them is that the cap does not really protect the USB connector, and does not have any kind of snap closure. But they are more than good enough as throw away drives for Linux installs, which is why I bought them. :)

Ive only used 3 of the 5 thus far. I was attempting to delete files on one. It was taking so long that I decided to just reformat the drive . 5 minutes later the drive unreadable and windows could not recognize it. I had to toss it into the trash!

Muy bueno solo que cuando le das click derecho para formatearlo dura mucho para abrir.

I returned the 16GB mosDart USB drives since one memory-stick failed or was defective. Sadly, I found out after a couple of days of work that I lost because the data I had stored there was not accessible.the UBS could not be read and asked “if I want it to initialize it.” Of course that meant erase everything I had stored in it. I retried it again and again, even after I had powered off my computer, re-starting it and I got the same result. I went to check if I could read it in my apple laptop, got the same message, check it in a Toshiba laptop same thing. Tried it in my husbands Apple Tower and also got the same result. In 4 computers your memory-stick could not be read. Accepting to the idea that if I initialize the USB-stick would erase everything, I clicked to initialize it. Now, I got another message saying that the “initializing had FAILED.” In the many years I have been using floopy drives, CDs, memory-stick, flash cards etc. , yes, I may have had maybe a couple of bad floppy drives, even maybe a couple of CD disks. But this is the first time I had a defective memory-stick. Even the free memory-stick we get in conferences have worked fine for us. As you can surely appreciate, I did not want to experiment using the other drives from the package. Maybe it was a “bad-batch.” I purchased your memory-stick because they were less expensive than other name-brands (Patriot, SanDisk etc.). I learned that I better pay more for those name-brands than to have the uncertainty that if, I use the others, they may fail as well. I am working on a deadline with a publisher. How am I going to recover the loss of 2 days of work? after 2-3 days I returned the package with all the drives. I marked BAD or Defective over the bad drive. In addition I included a letter explaining the problem. Hopefully the seller reads it and makes sure that there are no other bad drives in their inventory.

made sure all 5 worked. One of them was also put under heavy use because one of the PCs gave up, had to zero the usb stick out for memtest, then made a linux installation media out of it, then used the usb stick like that for over a month, and finally installed the system into the hard drive recently. The single usb stick I used is still intact after all of that and Im more than thankful for it

Chinese thumb drives are hit or miss. These Mosdart 16GB drives are better than others Ive tested that look the same. Ive done a capacity test using FakeFlashTest and a full read write test using H2testw on two of the 5 and they both passed. I also ran a CrystalDiskMark speed test and read speeds came in around 24 MB/sec which is respectable for a USB 2 drive. Write speeds were around 11-12 MB/sec which is also respectable given the price. Running ChipGenius these are supposedly made by Alcor Micro but show up as Generic and the actual flash is supposedly MLC by Toshiba. The VID is 058F and the PID is 6387. Interestingly these have a red LED inside but only a few of the colors let the LED shine through. The LED blinks when youre accessing the drive and is on steady when its recognized by your operating system. Bottom line: I wouldnt trust any important data to these. And, if youre in a hurry, opt for name brand USB 3 drives for only a few dollars more per drive. The trick with the big brands (especially Sandisk) is avoiding fake counterfits from China. At least with these youre not paying for a name brand and getting a generic Chinese drive anyway.

First of all, let me say that I very much appreciate having the indicator led to let me know that the computer can see the device and, the device is actually doing something when commanded. I was able to copy a 200+Mb file to each device so they all appear to be working electrically. The reason for only 4-stars was that Windows indicated device does not have the required performance characteristics...to use for Ready Boost. Anyways, I should be able to use the drives to transport files, portable tools and such...better than a thumb drive without an indicator led. If they last a few years, Ill be a happy camper.

Purchased to distribute a video to family members. 4 of the 5 worked fine, 1 does not read at all. The computer doesnt even see its connected. Still a good price for 4 though :)

A great, reasonably priced, reliable memory stick. The only draw back is that it is a bit difficult to attach some kind of lanyard to it for id purposes, which I felt was necessary to keep track of the general contents for each memory stick being used .
