I used one of these to replace the noisy fan in my Q-See DVR that I bought at Costco. This one is much quieter but not totally silent. Id say it is probably about half as loud as the original, so it is well worth it. Comes with every imaginable connector to adapt to whatever you have, which is nice. On a Q-See DVR, you will not need any of those adapters.

I buy these for my raspberry pi projects. I power them directly from the pis 5 volt. They are very quiet fans.

Despite wondering why I was paying $14 for a tiny fan, I dont regret this purchase. I have this installed in a custom case for a Comma.ai self-driving device in my car. It keeps the device cool and is nearly inaudible with the car running. I can also trust that this thing will outlast the Comma device itself. A cheaper fan may have accomplished one or two of these things, but it sure wouldnt be able to do all 3.

I have several of Noctuas fans in my PC: NF-F12 iPPC 3000 PWM, NF-S12A PWM, NF-P12. They are very effective at keeping my severely overclocked system cool, and while they are very quiet, I still do hear them. This one though, the NF-A4x10, I dont hear this one at all. I can be in a silent room and still not hear this fan, but it moves a lot of air for its size.

This fan is awesome. I bought this to replace the exhaust fan on my Amcrest DVR. With the original fan it measured about 55 dB from a foot away. With the months fan it measured 35dB. Feels like it puts out as much air if not more. I used the silicon mounts it came with and it holds it very secure but doesnt allow noise from the fan to resonate through the chassis of the DVR. Definitely worth the money.

Much quieter than the stock fan that came with my Odroid xu3 Lite.

I have a heatsink for my raspberry pi that I picked up that was both noisy AND annoying as it had LEDs on the fan. Swapped it out with this fan and, while I see it spining, from a distance I hear nothing! absolutely quiet AND I am running my Pi4 24/7 at 34.56 C / 94.2 F... had to take the heatsink off to make sure the sensor was working!

The only problem is that the cord is a bit too long for a MiSTer, but that is hardly a dealbreaker.

    Great fan - it blows!

I used this to repair a fan in an old ClearOne XAP 800. It worked beautifully without making a lot of noise. The installation kit was very complete and i didnt worry a bit about it possibly not being able to connect. It has been running non-stop now for a month or so with no signs of slowing down.

Featuring advanced aerodynamic design measures such as Flow Acceleration Channels and an AAO standard frame, the NF-A4x10 5V is a dedicated 5V version of Noctua’s highly optimised, premium quality quiet 40x10mm fan. Smooth Commutation Drive technology and Noctua’s reference class SSO2 bearing ensure superb running smoothness and excellent long-term stability. Topped off with modular cabling and the OmniJoin Adaptor Set, the NF-A4x10 5V is a premium choice for demanding 5V applications.

5V version

Many devices such as network or storage solutions use 5 volt 40mm fans. With the same operating voltage and the included OmniJoin adaptor set that makes it compatible with proprietary fan headers, the NF-A4x10 5V is ideal for replacing noisy or broken 5V 40mm fans.

Please Note: Being a 5V fan, the NF-A4x10 5V cannot be run at 12V and will be damaged when used with typical 12V power sources such as PC motherboard fan headers.

Flow Acceleration Channels

The NF-A4x10 impeller features suction side Flow Acceleration Channels. By speeding up the airflow at the crucial outer blade regions, this measure reduces suction side flow separation and thus leads to better efficiency and lower vortex noise.

SSO2 Bearing

The NF-A4x10 features the further optimised second generation of Noctua"s renowned, time-tested SSO bearing. With SSO2, the rear magnet is placed closer to the axis to provide even better stabilisation, precision and durability.

Reduced motor hub size

Thanks to its streamlined, compact motor design, the NF-A4x10"s motor hub is smaller than with conventional 4cm fans. This allows for more blade surface area and thus contributes to the NF-A4x10"s superior airflow and pressure performance.

Inner Surface Microstructures

With the tips of the fan blades ploughing through the boundary layer created by the Inner Surface Microstructures, flow separation from the suction side of the blades is significantly suppressed, which results in reduced blade passing noise and improved airflow and pressure efficiency.
