NSI Industries TORK WFIP2 Smart Dual Plug - Indoor Standard Wi-Fi 3-Prong 2 Outlets Plug - Compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant - Remote Access with Smartphone/Tablet App - No Hub Required

I have had no issues with this NSi Industries TORK WFIP2 Smart Dual Plug, but I got it knowing what it could - and could not - do. This has two plugs that operate with one remote, so if youre looking for something where you can operate each plug separately, then youll need to look elsewhere at other products. This is perfect for items that you turn on and off simultaneously, such as two lamps in a room, etc. Its not intended to do anything more. You download their Tork app to get started, and you can use it with Google Home. Its super convenient for the times where you always use two items at the same time, and need them both to operate off or on as needed. I use it for two lamps that I always turn off and on at the same time, and it works every time. Again - not everyone with a Smart home will need this, so youll need to carefully consider if you have 2 items that you always want to operate at the same time. If not - keep looking. If so, this is an easy and simple solution for those of us that want to operate two things at once and dont need the plugs operating independently from each other.

Im using the latest version of the Android software. It took a few tries, but when I used the Smart Life app (which I use for other smart plugs), things worked. Two critics who gave it three stars said that they did not like the fact that you cannot control things independently. They did not see the utility of having one device controlling two sockets. What a failure of imagination. I can see that some people could find that useful. For example, you might have two lights that you want to control together. So you either want them both on or both off always at the same time. Having it all controlled by one switch saves you the hassle of having to switch one and then the other off. Alexa, turn off light 1. Alexa, turn off light 2. This is better: Alexa, turn off my dual lights. So that would be a useful feature. Thats just one example. Another possibility is that theres a part of your house where you only have one plug available and you dont mind the two devices going on and off together. Example: your PC and your printer. Or your TV and your mood lighting.

BUYER BEWARE – This may not connect to your WIFI router. I have never had any problem connecting phones, tablets, TVs, computers and Amazon smart devices but this TORK Smart Dual Plug is a problem. Apparently, it will only connect if I go into the settings of my router and set it up to work at 2.4 GHz. And if I were to do that (which I cannot and will not do) then all of my existing devices would need to be reset. I counted and I have 14 devices using my router right now. What were these people thinking? Needless to say, it is going back. A few more comments: 1- The listing on Amazon should be changed to say it will only work on 2.4 GHz WIFI routers. 2- The instruction that came in the box were very confusing. Somewhat worthless. 3- The instructions on TORK’s web site are also of no value because they show a different plug that looks nothing like the Smart Dual Plug.

This NSI Tork smart plug was easy to install and looked exactly as pictured. It can control 2 devices but right now we only have a lamp installed. Once we downloaded the app, It took 5 minutes to set up and link to Alexa. We already had the Alexa system but if you dont you will have to buy. I use it for a lamp and its as simple as Alexa, turn on living room light and it hasnt failed yet. Been about 1.5 weeks. I do notice there is a couple second delay but no big deal. I normally use it when I come into the house via voice, but its nice you can control remotely in case you need a light on when you are away from home.

They work okay, but why are they linked together. They can only turn on and off together, rather than being set up individually. I can see if someone wants to turn on/off lights at the same time, maybe, but you can do that with individual ones by creating a group. I just cant see a situation where this is better than two individual switched.

This is perfect for something like turning on and off two nightstands as this has two outlets. It also is three pronged, for devices that have a ground connection. This does require to setup an account under the Tork app. I was able to link it to my Google home and create a name to turn it on and off. Nice wifi outlet that doesnt take up very much room.

This plug is smarter than my house . It may also be smarter than me. Works with our kitchen and LR lights, but not others; works with our ceiling fans. Easy to plug in and set up. Next time I go smart anything electronic Ill call our son or grandnieces. I rate it a four.

This smart plug is one of the better ones that I’ve used. It’s a very easy setup and connects to Alexa with ease. I’m using it for the lamp in the living room so when we come home, just a simple command to Alexa and you have light. This is especially helpful when you have your hands full and unable to flip a light on. I’ve had not one issue since connecting it. Overall I think it works as it’s intended to and I would recommend.

This really helped me in my home automation. I wanted to automate our bedside lamps, but the way I was doing it robbed me of outlets. I need to plug in the lights, the USB charger, the variety of other things that want to be recharged overnight. This freed up an outlet, I plugged both lights in, and has another available wall light, and a single unit managing the bed lamps. Setting up and configuration was easy. But do think about names carefully. My lamp was called John. Which worked perfectly. Until I heard my daughter saying Alexa, turn on John. That was not a good place to be. Dad would have been at least as bad. My light is now his my wifes light is named hers. Always think before you name things :)

The first thing you have to know going into this is that this is ONE remote outlet with two plugs. That is, it offers two places to plug in and control as one unit, and not independently like some multi-outlet WiFi plugs. I have a pair of plug in light fixtures above my living room book shelf that are the main lights for that room. In the past, I used a timer with an extension cord so that I could have two plugs (one for each fixture) coming out of the single outlet. With this, I can easily plug both fixtures directly into the smart plug which eliminates the mess of wires that used to be required behind the shelves. As long as you go into this knowing what it is (dual plugs attached to one remote control), I think you will be happy with the performance of this product. If you need two independently controlled outlets, this isnt the product for you. For me and my setup, it works well.
