    Greater than one week

Designed to keep wild fire fighters boots clean and leather healthy in an environment of dirt, mud, water and ash, this leather preservative is something I use on every leather shoe I own that is not a dress shoe. It will restore old boots and shoes if they are nt too far gone. I know people who use it on saddles, leather furniture, etc. It penetrates the leather and will likely darken it, so be prepared for that, but it keep leather nice for much longer with much less fuss than anything else Ive ever used. Best way to apply is to rub in with finger tips. Heat of hands softens it and helps it to penetrate. If you dont mind the color change and want the best outdoor protection for shoes and boots its worth a try.

Been using this for a while now. Can’t say the price is average as it can be found cheaper elsewhere but overall an awesome product shipped directly to your door.

I now know how bad I let my motorcycle gloves get. Esp living in a dry area my gloves were rock hard. Now they are like new. Make sure to let them dry for a few days though get slippery. Used on boots also.

Great stuff. Smells good, protects, looks nice. I really like it. I put it on everything leather, from shoes and boots, knife handles, dog collars, etc. Ive even used it on wood. Word of warning: it can darken lighter brown leather quite a bit, so test it in an inconspicuous spot first and make sure you like the way it looks.

I use this product on all my western and riding boots, real leather bags, shoes, belts, you name it!! I love this stuff and I’ve had the same jar for over a year. A little goes a long way!

I use this product to clean and soften my horse show equipment. It works great. I was only disappointed by the small 4 oz size. No availability on Amazon for a larger size. Most annoying was no sponge applicator! Now I have to purchase a sponge.

Obenauf’s Heavy Duty LP

Industrial strength leather preservative (lp) was originally developed for protecting and waterproofing firefighters leather work boots. Heavy Duty LP is a leather conditioner made with our natural oil and beeswax formula. This unique Beeswax/Propolis Suspension Formula protects leather against caustic fire retardant chemicals, heat, water, and abrasion. Natural oils in Heavy Duty LP are gradually released into the fibers as a long term lubrication. Heat and flexing cause oils to be released, oiling the leather when it needs it most, making this an excellent leather boot conditioner. Before application, a spot test is recommended because Heavy Duty LP will darken your leather and nubuck. Not recommended for Suede. Made in the USA.

Apply Heavy Duty LP to your:

  • Leather Work Boots
  • Saddle Bags and Chaps
  • Belts
  • Holsters
  • Sheathes
  • Baseball Gloves
  • And more!

Originally Developed for Firefighters

Heavy Duty LP

Over 30 years ago, an Idaho Wildland Firefighter developed this unique Beeswax/Propolis Suspension Formula to protect leather against caustic fire retardant chemicals, ash, heat, water, and abrasion. Natural oils are gradually released into the fibers as a long-term lubrication. Heat or continued flexing causes oils to be released faster. Leather gets oiled when and where it needs it most; while on the job!

Recommended Application

At room temperature, apply by hand as body temperature helps melt LP into leather. Two applications last longer in wet conditions. For absorption, allow ten minutes or up to one hour between treatments. On smooth leather, buff off excess with a clean cloth. On nubuck, use a soft bristled brush. One ounce should provide one application to a pair of tall boots. Apply every 6 to 8 weeks or as needed.

Extensive Lab and Field Testing Compared Obenauf"s Against Other Products. Rated Superior and Proven to Resist:

  • Dynamic and Static Water Penetration
  • Scuffing and Abrasion
  • Manure Acid, Salt, Chemicals
  • Premature Cracking and Parching Due to Heat
