The hinge is tight so it stays where you put it at any angle and the grips keep your phone exactly where you place it so your angle can be perfect every time. It fits my ancient iPhone 6S with my wallet case no problem. I also use it as a charging station in my office and its tall enough that it doesnt bend the cord when plugged in.
