    I wish I got 1TB or bigger, 500GB is not enough for 4k GoPro video collection. The drive is very fast using linux. When wiping the drive using “dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/nvme0n1 bs=1M status=progress” the 500GB drive is wiped lightning fast. I also use the F2FS file system on this nvme0n1p1 drive and it is so fast when copy/moving large 4k video files.

    For the price, these are awesome... I also have a 980 and the difference is speed is not noticeable in regular use. If someone asks me which one I recommend, I would probably get this over the 980 and save some bucks.

    The only concern with this product is the M.2 drives require a specific broadhead flat screw to catch the product. This was not provided and had to be specially ordered as not even BestBuy, Office Max or local PC shop at one broad enough. Delayed installation by a week.

    Just a heads up to anyone buying this drive Samsung switched out the Phoenix controller on this SSD and its using a in-house controller that offers poorer performance in certain tests and to top it off Samsung didnt change skus only way you can tell if you got the slower drive is by checking the model number on the drive itself. Personally I think the new drives should be cheaper if they offer slower performance.

    Managed to install in my Lenovo Legion 5 laptop. Used the 2nd bay slot, and used the free samsung software to clone the original C boot drive. Then replaced this new Samsung 970 into the boot drive slot. I can feel it is faster than the original 512 NVme drive that shipped with the laptop. Overall pleased.

    Best gen3 NVME you can buy. Wish i could justify buying the 2TB model but just too expensive.
