Schluter KERDI-BOARD-SN: Shower Niche 12x12

The product description states that the outside (rough in) dimensions of the niche are 18x17.3x4.4 but what I received was a 12x12 niche with a 16x16 rough in. I had already framed out the rough opening for a shower remodel and when I received the product I was unpleasantly surprised to see that what I received was actually only 16x16 rough in measurements. I had to reframe the shower niche to match the actual product dimensions. Not sure if I received the wrong product or if the description of the product is simply incorrect. Either way, this is a huge set back so please be aware before buying and starting the job!

Great product we love most all of what Schluter has but the delivery and Amazon delivery driver really, really bad.

I bought two of these for my new shower installation. I was planning on building them myself out of 2x4’s and hardiebacker but decided to take a chance on these. These are extremely easy to use and saved a lot of time. I knocked them down one star because at $50 each, they are way overpriced for what they are. But I have found this to be true with all the Schluter-Kerdi items I purchased for this project. Good stuff, and time will tell if they remain waterproof, but very pricey.

Although Schluter niches are pricey, they ultimately save money because of the labor you would spend having your contractor make a custom niche.

Came out looking very nice.

Light years easier than trying to build and waterproof my own niche. I just screwed it between the studs in th shower and covered to the opening with my schulter membrane...bam, done!
