Adjustable straps, lightweight, cool design, reflectors to be seen and protects the 8 yo head. All kids need helmets and this one is cool enough for her to wear! I like the visor keeping some sun off out of the eyes too.

We ordered a few helmets for my 9 year old from Amazon and REI. Also went to Walmart to see what they had. None of them, except this one worked. The size is right. The other Schwinn helmet (see my review for Schwinn Youth Intercept Helmet, Green) we ordered from Amazon was badly manufactured. Plastic warped. But this one is fine. I inspected the labels inside which show the CPSC logo. Most of them, including this one, were made in China. Make sure you check the YEAR it is made. those made in earlier years (2014 and earlier) were bad and look like old stock. Some were too large to fit a youths head or had straps under the chin that rubs uncomfortably. Padding inside the S Thrasher Youth is not too thin either. Easily removable for cleaning. The visor, although very sharp looking, barely provide any shade- more for aesthetic value. This is an Ok helmet for the price. Not as nicely made compared to the GIRO Youth Rascal that we tried at REI (and also available on Amazon) which is a lot more $ (we had to return the Giro because the M/L sizing is too small but would have gladly paid more for a better helmet if it had fit). Overall, we are happy with the Schwinn Thrasher Youth helmet protection and glad finally one that fits well!

Bought it for my daughter to ride her roller blades. She loves it. She says its very comfortable and loves the design. Although she picked it herself, we still took time to research this product. It was definitely worthwhile.
