> 3 daySo this is like the backup to the back of the back up backup which is backed up by others drives still. Having quite a collection of stuff from over the years....decades actually...and after having lost much of my older collections Ive become like a crazed survivalist when it comes to data backup. You never expect it to happen....but it will....Murphy says so.

> 3 dayExternal Back up died less than a year with all my data lost, over (1.3TB). I try recovery products but could not get them back. External drive could no longer be red by any USB I plug it into. I am very disappointed. I lost a lot of important data.

Greater than one weekAwesome device that is nice and thin design. It was a simple take out of box and plug it in. My system auto detected the device and i was able to immediately copy/backup my files with speed.

> 3 dayMake sure you reconfigure your computer to the hard drive. It caused my boyfriends computer to restart several times. The problem went away after it was reconfigured.

> 3 dayI connected the HD to my computer and followed the instructions to be certain that all would be done correctly. Within 30 minutes, I got an error message stating that the HD was damaged and needed to be scanned. I did what was suggested. Again the error message. Back into the box. Start chat with Seagate. Conclusion - this item failed within 30 minutes of beginning use. Contacting Seagate was a mistake as the chat took an hour to get a replacement. I recd the replacement from Seagate and it wasnt a new HD it was a recertificed HD. I would suggest any other companys external HD both for equipment and support. Replacing a new, defective HD with a refurbished HD is not a great customer service concept. Amazon did step in and offer a small reimbursement, so kudos to Amazon.

> 3 dayI have had a Seagate external drive (Free Agent) for four year. Very reliable, so I wanted to upgrade to this larger capacity. This unit was a nightmare to set-up. The instructions with the unit (see photo) show what presumably is to appear on your home screen when you plug the hard drive in. Nope! Nothing. I did find the drive on Windows 10, but when I opened, there was a sequence of steps with apps such as Toolkit, Mylio Photos, Adobe Creative Cloud photography, I skipped these, and registered the hard drive. Still nothing on my home page. Went back, downloaded Toolkit (which apparently you need, but not mentioned in initial instructions). I played with Toolkit for an hour, still couldnt get anything to download to this hard drive. Now returning. Followup: I ordered a Silicon Power 2TB for same price. Very smooth setup, and successfully downloaded Windows 10 backup.

Greater than one weekI purchased this as it was billed as an external drive for next Box. 65 to 70% of the time its great. Other times I have to unplug it and plug it back in for the consul to recognize it

> 3 day1) It does not include an encryption software and if it does they dont make it easy to do. For the price Id expect an encryption software. 2) It feels cheap, the photos almost make it look high quality but dont be fooled. its plastic. Thin plastic. when youre backing up to the drive you can hear it vibrate thru the cheap plastic. I would have expected better quality from a company like seagate. Next time will buy a different external drive. Im not impressed.
