Ive only owned this for a day, so Ill update this review later if I need to. I did HOURS of research in my hunt for a good vacuum that could helps us manage my husbands asthma and severe allergy to dust mites. From what Ive learned, people with allergies and asthma need vacuums with (1) a certified HEPA filter (which ensures *clean* air gets circulated out of the vacuum, rather than air full of old dust particles) and (2) a super strong suction that can pick up lots of hair, dead skins cells, and all the microscopic dust mite bodies and poop (which is what triggers dust mite allergies). Vacuums with these features can be incredibly pricey, so while I was absolutely willing to pay more, I was hoping to find something that wouldnt break the bank, if possible. Throughout my research, this vacuum came up over and over again as highly rated for allergy and asthma control and seemed to be one of the more budget-friendly options. So far, this vacuum has absolutely delivered on the features I was looking for. First, as far as I can tell, the HEPA filter is working miracles. Prior to buying this vacuum, my husband would have a horrible asthma attack every single time we vacuumed. This is the first time in a long time that hes been able to vacuum HIMSELF (or even be in the house while I vacuumed) without struggling to breath afterwards. He didnt even sneeze once afterwards. So, for anyone with allergies, this is a must have! I should note that I did need to empty the canister halfway through vacuuming because the fill-line is fairly low. I believe thats necessary to ensure the filter doesnt get overwhelmed and continues to function properly, so emptying more often is worth it to me. However, if you have allergies and no one can empty the canister for you, I would suggest looking for a vacuum with a larger canister or requires less frequent dumping. Emptying the canister definitely wasnt an ordeal - it took me maybe three minutes - but I could imagine that being challenging if I had severe allergies myself. So do keep that in mind. The second thing of note is that this picked up ALL THE HAIR. Both my husband and I have long hair, and Id honestly just come to believe that finding hair everywhere, no matter how often you vacuumed, was just a fact of life. I was hoping that this vacuum would cut down on the amount of hair left behind in our carpets, but didnt have high expectations for its ability to remove the hair that was deeply enmeshed in our carpet. (We need to get rid of our carpet anyway, but I was looking for something to hold us over until we have time to replace the flooring.) But guys, this vacuum got rid of it ALL. I rand my hands across our carpet after vacuuming, trying to pick up or feel if any hair was left, and I kid you not there was NOT ONE HAIR left behind. I could have cried. Do be aware that you will need to cut the hair off the bottom of the vacuum afterward to ensure that the bristle feature doesnt get clogged. However, that was incredibly quick and easy to do and made no mess at all. I think this is a universal truth of vacuums, but if you hate this thought, perhaps look for a vacuum that doesnt roll up the hair on its brush. I will say that UNLIKE vacuums Ive had in the past, which had lots of debris, fluff, and gunk all mixed in with the hair at the bottom, there was ONLY hair at the bottom of this vacuum (the suction is that good), which made it a really easy, mess-free cleanup. So long as it holds up well, I will be singing this vacuums praises to EVERYONE.

My professional models hose cracked so I replaced my navigator with this. This new one is not as powerful but it does a pretty good job. I should have spent the extra money and got the same model as before because my carpets always looked good. I could change the suction power for my rugs and this new one I cannot. Learn from my mistakes and go professional if you have animals.

I am a huge fan of Shark vacuums. I also have a very expensive Miele canister vac, and I have to say the Shark is easier to use and has just as good (if not better) suction as the expensive Miele. Mieles are also notorious for having short cords, which are a real pain in the neck. I had been using the Shark Navigator NV70 for the last ten years (it was a goldish-tan color), and I loved that vacuum. After 10 years of service, it just stopped sucking one day. I didnt even notice that it had lost suction until I vacuumed my cream, bedroom rug and 5 minutes later I found my long, dark brown hair everywhere. I tried new filters. I washed out the canister. But alas, Shark, know to his friends as Sharkie, was no more. So, I decided to upgrade on my new vacuum to a Shark with the lift away feature. I have been using the Shark NV360 for over a month, and I really love it. Assembly was a breeze, and boy does this thing have a lot of suction. After my first trip around the house, I had to empty the canister twice. The NV360 is a beautiful navy blue color, and it does come with a crevice tool and red, felt lined upholstery tool. I did go ahead and spend a few bucks at the Shark website to get an accessory package with a longer crevice tool and a brush head attachment, which I prefer to the upholstery tool. The lift away feature is easy to use. Sometimes the release buttons/latches that you need to press to release the lift away can be a little tight, and you need to press the button while wiggling the vacuum to get the lift away to release. In comparison to my old Shark NV70, the NV360 is much lighter with a wider vacuum head. The NV70 was built so tough that it felt like a truck could run over it, and it would be fine. The NV360 is lighter which makes chores easier, but you also lose that great, sturdy, feeling that the NV70 had. The NV360 feels a little like a toy vacuum in comparison to the NV70. The NV70 also had a longer cord - maybe 5 feet longer. But, the lift away technology and wider brush head do make up for the shorter cord. My only real complaint is that the NV360 is so light that it can easily fall over. That is a problem when you are trying to reach that last little bit of whatever with the extension wand and then BOOM. The NV360 has its weight near the back of the vacuum, so it tends to fall backward rather than on its side like the NV70. That caused a dent in my coffee table, but now I know that I really have to move the vacuum to a closer outlet when using the attachment wand. Overall, this is a great vacuum with great suction at a fair price. I do miss the sturdy feel of the NV70, but for anyone looking for a lightweight vacuum with excellent suction, this is your solution.

Great vacuum! Love the suction-only feature (no brush rotation if so desired), as my new carpeting is loop-pile not cut-pile so I cant use a rotating brush on it. Great suction. Works great on my hardwood floors! Lightweight but powerful. Love the easy of the hose-only feature, and its easy to dump the canister. Love the articulating head to get around objects and under furniture. Ive never said I loved a vacuum before (and Ive had many in 50 years)--I love this vacuum! Would buy from this seller again--the vacuum was delivered in one day! Very reasonably priced too.

I love that its probably cleaning deeply. It sucks so hard and doesnt have power steering. Its extremely hard to maneuver even on short pile carpet. I will probably return because of how hard it is to use.

After a string of failed vacuums that would last a year at my store I finally went with shark and already I see a huge difference in durability and suction. So worth it! Not even comparable to other brands.

So my previous vacuum was a tiny dirt devil cordless handheld vacuum. It was bad, very bad. It barely could suck things up that were big or small and it was horrible for spot carpet cleaning. I have seborrheic dermatitis - if you dont know what that is, think dandruff, but its on other parts of your face, and the dandruff thats on your head is 10000x worse. My computer chair is on top of a short pile carpet that is 10+ years old. Normally simple vacuums should be able to grab whatevers in the carpet and suck it up, but if youve ever dealt with flakes from seborrheic dermatitis, they look practically INVISIBLE on certain colored carpets, and even on short pile carpets they sink into the bottom layer of the carpet. This is bad because it makes it very difficult to vacuum it up, and over time those flakes disintergrate into tiny dust particles, and guess what that is food for? You betcha, DUST MITES. I would ritualistically vacuum the area around my computer table but I knew I wasnt quite getting to what was the actual problem. At first I was going to get a cheapo $60 Eureka one that I saw online, but then I thought about it - why not just get something thats a little bit more expensive but not Dyson levels of expensive and is just as powerful? Thats where this came in. Assembly was straightforward, instructions were clear. Plastic felt a bit on the brittle side for everything, but that seems to be the general case for most modern products. Hooked everything together, turned on the vacuum and DANG it was strong. I had a hard time pulling the vacuum off the carpet. Fortunately, unlike some of these other reviewers *I read the instructions*. This happens on short pile rugs and carpets - this can be easily remedied by reducing the suction through the suction ring thats near the handle. Counter clockwise for less suction, clockwise for more. You will hear an air leaking sound - THIS IS NORMAL. This is a pretty cheap and easy way for the vacuum to reduce suction - and you dont have to adjust it too far - I would say a 1/6th turn was enough to reduce the suction so I could move it around comfortably without feeling like Im fighting with the vacuum. After I cleaned the area in question - the dust cup was already HALF FULL with dust. And it wasnt the typical dust youd see from the top layer of the carpet - this thing picked up what looked like extremely fine powdered sandy/colored stuff. It was obvious that it was the flakes that have dropped from my head that got pulled into the bottom layer of the carpet. Now Im sure a standard old school canister vacuum could do the same thing and my lack of experience with vacuums is just overplaying my experience, but as you can see from the other reviews here, people who have used other vacuums before can attest to the fact that this thing is *REALLY STRONG*. Bang for buck high power for its price. Also Amazon has a payment plan thing you can use which makes the bite required to buy this hurt less as well. Another thing the manual will warn you about - the vacuum is not stable upright - lean it against the wall or around items that can support just in case it tips over or find some straps to keep it secured against.

I bought a shark vacuum a few years ago and was completely amazed at what it picked up! Im a regular vacumm-er and thought my carpet was clean, but, after seeing what this picked up, I was a believer! I bought his one for my mother. She was using a dyson for years. I brought my Shark over to her house and picked up SEVERAL CANNISTERS of crud! She had to have one after that. Its light and easy to use, it pivots well in tight spaces and can get around awkward areas easily because it twists so well. I love it and will never use another vacuum brand other than Shark again!

LOVE IT! Me & hubby live in a 2-story, small house apt., with a large rug in the living room, throw rugs all around, but mostly hardwood floors. Suction - exellent! Love the swivel! Very affordable. Did not want cheapest option and a neighbor said for a medium price, expect to spend about $300. It was only $169.00. Very pleased! The lift-away feature is awesome. I can get to those crowded corners with the lift-away that I previously had to get on my knees and hand wipe. Gone are the days of vac.cleaner bags! And, I like seeing how much dirt has been picked up. And, easily assembled, lift away easy, and switch for rugs/floors is right there on hand (not on the bottom). Highly recommend. Shark just improved on Dysons similar vacuum.

Vacuumed a carpet that had been vacuumed before. The amount of dirt it picked up was amazing. Wish the dust cup was easier to clean.
