Trying to solder wet plumbing is really hard to do properly and using a torch runs the risk of setting your house on fire. These fittings solve those problems. The fittings are well made and easy to use, just make sure to follow directions. A clean cut (dont use a hack saw!) and a clean pipe is vital to prevent leaks. I watched some videos on-line to avoid making mistakes. The tools that they sell for de-burring the cut, marking the installation depth, and undoing the fitting if necessary dont cost very much and I highly recommend that you buy them.

I still dont understand how these things work, but they work! I used these 90-degree elbows when doing a DIY water softener install. It really couldnt be easier. Cut, de-burr, mark, install. Its pretty simple! Theyve been installed for 2-3 months now, and Ive had no leaks or issues.

These SharkBite fittings are the best when working with PEX pipe. If the pipe is cut square and clean (use the appropriate cutter!), the fittings can be installed by hand, allowing easy installation by a do it your selfer. When I bought my house 8 years ago I had it entirely re-plumbed with PEX while remodeling. Had I known how easy it was I might have taken that job on myself instead of hiring the plumber. On second thought, maybe not, but simple jobs are a snap with these fittings!
