> 3 dayHate looking at power cords? Then definitely get this as an add on to your communications rack. It gives a much cleaner finish to a communications rack.

> 3 dayThe PDU works just fine for my needs, had the outlets on the back like I wanted for my network rack. No complaints with the product. I am however disappointed by the shipping. It was shipped in a rather thin cardboard box, the one the unit itself comes in. No padding or extra box around it. One of the mounting ears was bent over. Had this been for a client and not myself it would have been unacceptable and I would have returned it. I was able to get it bent back with some pliers. If you want the product to show up with no damage however I guess cross your fingers. This should have definitely been in another stronger box, and probably some bubble wrap to help.

> 3 dayI contacted Startech asking about the specs and design of the surge protector. They refuse to tell me or something. After opening it up I think it is your basic Metal oxide varistor (MOV) style but here is Startechs response: I do not currently have information on what type of surge protector that the RKPW081915 has. This is something I may be able to escalate to find out more. I can say that the Load Capacity is 1800VA. We do recommend that the RKPW081915 is plugged directly into a powersource rather than through another unit. So you may not be using the RKPW081915 in a recommended configuration by plugging it into a UPS. If you do wish to pursue escalating the request to find out more about the type of surge protector please do let me know if there is a certification or business requirement for this information and if you are ordering any quantity of the RKPW081915 units. This and any other information you could provide may assist in getting this information as quickly as possible. Some product information requests can take some time to complete. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any more questions. I sent them an email May 11th and because I am not some huge business I still have not got a response. I will remember this when I go to purchase for the huge companies I do work for

> 3 dayNo problems with it so far. I like that plugs are on the rear and that there isnt a whole slew of lit up orange switches on the front. Something I ran into and not at all the fault of this unit is that if you dont have open space above and below it on your rack, then you may not be able to plug in a wall wart style DC adapter without other equipment getting in the way. I solved this by using short appliance extension cords as needed.

> 3 dayEasy to install. The back outlets are handy to power the rack components while the front outlets are spares for test stuff. I got it plugged in at home directly to a 20A/120V home run (direct run to the breaker panel) and this baby has one heck of a thick AC cord. So, it looks like it can easily power the stuff on the rack.

> 3 dayTakes up 1U in your rack and provides enough spade for most of your networking needs, depending on your setup. Since the outlets are sideways and most router/modem male connections are now wide, this works out perfectly to be able to plug in multiple things right next to each other. It also provides for a cleaner set-up as the plugs are in the back as opposed to the front. The power cord that plugs into the wall is also in the back. I had originally tried to put this in a smaller rack that wasnt as deep as traditional racks, but unfortunately it didnt fit due to the power cord and any plugs that I tried to get in the back didnt have enough clearance. That said, this was super easy to install and looks clean. Will update in a year or so.
