Taytools 468310 Large Adjustable Trammel Head Set Beam Compass, Pencil Holders, Hardened Points

This tool is heavy duty, not made of cheap plastic. I was impressed the moment I opened the box.

I bought these to finally replace an old but trusty 5 stick with a pencil hole in one end and a a number of custom nail pivot holes drilled along its length over the years for whatever radius I needed. I used that stick for at least 10 years and it worked perfectly for dozens of curves, but I saw these on Amazon and a similar set at Rockler and figured I might as well bring my circle-marking technology up to the modern era.

Very well made, strong and sturdy construction. Looks like plastic in the photo, but they are solid metal with quality parts.

I have been making large shop drawings with trammel points for more than 50 years. These are the biggest, strongest, heaviest (cast iron), best designed trammel points that I have ever used. Designed for clamping on wood or metal bars of any length. They are built like a mack truck. Great for heavy hard use on large drawings, and job site layouts. Holds pencil firmly and in multiple directions. Unbelievable quality. Great price. All other trammels are toys by comparison.

At the price I was expecting a fairly cheap but adequate tool. The reality is that these are extremely well made precision tools that will last generations, assuming that the next generations still build anything. In any case the quality of these far exceeded my expectations. Sorry I could only go up to 5 stars.

These are heavy duty and accurate. You can easily switch out the point for a pencil to draw or your circle. There is no jumping or sliding and its very accurate.
