One of the umbrella ribs was bent when I checked it. I think it will break

This doesnt live up to previous Totes umbrellas I have had. There are tiny holes all along the seams and fabric. And despite being so bulky, it seems quite flimsy. I am returning it. For this price, find something else.

Works wonderfully opens and closes quickly. Appears to be a full size canopy very good coverage when its raining. Only complaint I have it adds a lot of weight when carrying in a purse or tote bag. Other than weight, its wonderful!

Ive been buying TOTES for decades now. Love the brand and the ease of use. I travel for a living and want and need compact, quick and easy access umbrella. Especially in areas where the rain just suddenly comes down (i.e. Florida). This particular model TOTE isnt as compact as I had hoped for. Its also not as automated as advertised. You will have to assist it in both opening and closing. Build quality is very good. Velcro closing strap is nice and wide. Handle is just right for fit. The umbrella is a value umbrella so in fairness, it cant be to perfection. Yet it well deserves 4 stars.

Purchased to replace my Totes umbrella that I left on the bus. This version has a wider diameter, slightly better handle, UV protection and very good wind resistance. Also quite compact for a quality umbrella.

The is the second Totes umbrella of this type Ive owned. All works well on it, but when I try to finish collapsing it, the latch mechanism in the handle is very hard to engage. Some silicone lubricant seems to have helped, but not totally eliminated the problem.

Use umbrella for rain. The wind was blowing and my umbrella turn inside out. Suppose to withstand wind.

The only product that changes more than car models in styles and needless engineering is umbrellas. Often not for the better. I wanted a spare Totes 22605 ca 05956 which I love, 5 stars, but Im not in love with their more current line up. I found the Totes website less than helpful and I struggled with identifying Totes umbrellas closed shapes and proportions. Their catalogs product thumbnails only show the open/deployed configuration, I had to click on each product to view the closed configuration. Quality close-up product photos of the handles (I dont like foam handles, less long term durability, they decompose and crumble over time, harder to control) and materials werent helpful, basically enlarging/upsampling a low quality, small product photo. I settled on the Totes Titan Compact Travel Umbrella, Windproof, Waterproof, Auto Open/Close, which is more compact. The first time I tried to close it, I released my grip on the handle at the first click (how was I to know there was a second click?) and it punched me in the gut. Ill live, more of a surprise, but not a good first impression. In my entire life, Ive never had this happen. There is a false click that made me think the umbrella was latched closed. Ill attribute it to being unaccustomed to the more compact umbrellas. Id still prefer around a 16 inch closed umbrella and a single telescoping joint. Advice, keep closing until you reach the second, stronger latch click. The umbrellas telescoping shaft has a lot of rotational wobbliness at the lower joint, at least 5 degrees. Much more than Ive experienced on any previous umbrellas. I have concerns over how this might interfere with handling, managing the umbrella in strong gusty conditions as wind gust will have a 5 degrees say on where the canopy will turn. The lanyard... the new lanyard gets a 1 star, capital F. First, the old lanyards were like a heavy, woven, durable shoe string and simple. Never going to fail you. The new lanyards are over engineered junk. Instead of a single shoe string, the new lanyards are an assembly with primarily a less reassuring elastic lanyard. Long term, less durable, but I guess theres still a lifetime warranty. Elastic introduces an unwelcome bounce to carrying the umbrella. Elastic will fail much sooner than a shoes string. I really dont like the elastic decision. Next there is a hub component with the Totes logo on it that reduces the lanyard down to a heavy dental floss diameter string that connects to the handle. Again, the this doesnt inspire confidence. Unfortunately, the handle isnt designed that would allow me to retrofit the umbrella with a better lanyard. Current product photos conceal details on the lanyard. To their credit, Totes has a decent lifetime warranty. Hoping they will replace the lanyards for free without the $5 shipping fee.

I had 2 small Totes umbrellas - Totes Elements and Totes Titan Compact And a big one - Totes Super Strong, which I lost on the park bench. Totes Super Strong was a big real hardcore umbrella, quite heavy though and destined to be lost due to tired hands. Totes Titan Compact presents a more compact version of it without sacrifices against stormy weather, heavy rains, intense November winds etc. Totes Titan Compact version represents a more solid build, reinforced ribs, but the same in size and shape as Elements, slightly heavier and thicker. The only difference is Elements is thinner, lighter, slightly smaller in length. They are like 2 brothers - once tough and sturdy for stormy, windy aggressive times, the other is for regular mild rains. Both complement in each other in the own mission - keep you dry. Particular nuance of the Totes umbrellas is when you leave it at the door, it is dry in 5-10 minutes, while other umbrellas are soaking like swamp for 30 min or an hour. Totes Titan Super Strong - large, long, heavy, for big tall athletic men Totes Titan Compact - you get the same as Super Strong but in a compact shape Totes Elements - smallest and probably most effective compact urban umbrella for regular rains A combination of words Titan and Compact is a winning formula. I stopped buying other no name brands in comparison with Totes, because those blurry brands under-deliver quality in too many ways. Get to know Totes and you will like it as much as I do.
