My 5yo loves it. Its much more useful early in the game (no TP, so our wolf has only 3 hearts) but even later its cool to have a wolf companion. We started a new game after completing the first run and at the beginning this wolf barely takes damage even when taking on multiple bokoblins at once. He dodges well, and his attack is decently powered for the early baddies. I wish I could order him around and have him wait while I do recon sometimes but still, hes awesome to have around.

Bought it for my brother to use for Breath of the wild. Even though it is the jp model it still works with an NA wii u which is great. Couldnt find them in the store so had to resort buying it online.
