Doesnt read nor burn. PC does not recognize it as a USB device. Dont recommend.

The drive is very fast and so far, is dependable. There is a power switch on the back that is very difficult to operate. Ive read reviews that the eject button (which is kind of hard to find) works intermittently. Im using the drive on a Mac and use software controlled eject. So for, no problems there either. Works well straight out of the box. It is not (in my opinion) portable, as its a full size drive and requires a power source.

easy to setup and install drivers. I do not recommend using the software provided to rip dvds or BluRays. I have used handbrake over the years, but I prefer makeMKV, because it doesnt matter if its tv shows or a movie makeMKV breaks apart all the episodes for you, unlike handbrake which you have to add all of the episodes to the queue manually.

This Blu Ray drive should have been rated 4 Stars. It is very well designed and built. It works well. I reduced the rating from 5 stars to 4 because the top surface is not flat. Therefore, most items can NOT be placed on the top. I further reduced the rating because the description is either misleading or a flagrant lie. This unit is incapable of playing Blu Ray DVDs on a Mac. I spent a frustrating hour on the phone with Asus Customer Support to no avail. The Asus website asks for the operating system being used with this drive, and the ONLY choices appearing on their pick list are Windows. I returned thus Asus drive to Amazon.

Even though the description says it is both Windows and MacOS compatible, the software included (on DVD) only supports Windows. Make sure you have a MacOS application that will support the drive.

The official website doesnt support this product and it just flat out does not read any discs at all. Piece of junk skip it and buy something that actually does work.
