Just received hangers and was surprised that four 1/2 inch lag bolts were included. The hanger is made of cast iron a d is very heavy duty. I used them to hang a 60 inch wooden porch swing and I think the swing will break before the hangers ever will. I don’t think I needed such strong hangers but I will never worry of them failing. Make sure you mount them in the center of a beam or the 1/2 bolts will split the wood. Durability should not be a problem....rust on Y time will tell.

My husband was able to do this practically on his own. We got the wood from Home Depot and maybe and hour and a half later if not less we were all swinging. He did have to round the edges a bit to get the posts in the brackets. The brackets were a bit snug, but it didnt delay his work any. It feel really strong and durable. this is something my kids can grow with and we can easily maintain. I was looking online hours for a swing set to get the kids this summer and I just thought we can do this. Im really glad we did.

Heavy duty. Used for a swing set

My experience with this product is that it is incredibly durable and easy to install ... with one little caveat; it came with templates indicating where to drill half-inch diameter holes. That would be fine for standard machine bolts, but they provided half-inch diameter lag bolts. If one pre-drills half-inch holes, the lag bolts have no wood to which they can cling. Drill 3/8 holes, instead, or buy 1/2 machine bolts long enough to penetrate to the other side of the wood beam.

I bought four pairs of these for a backyard swingset. Theyre monstrous and I believe theyd support every bit of 2400 lbs! If youre using lag screws youll have no problem installing these. However, I wasnt taking chances with my kids on the swings, so I installed them in a 4x6 beam using 7 3/8 carriage bolts and lock washers. Since the holes for mounting hardware are circular, the square neck of a carriage bolt doesnt have much to hold on to. I think 6 of the 8 bolts I used required me to hold the neck with a wrench while I turned the lock nut as far as I could, then hold on to the end of the bolt with channel lock pliers to get it the rest of the way. After a few days, two pairs of them began to squeak while my kids were swinging. Taking apart the hanger and using a generous amount of 3-in-1 silicone lubricant fixed it. I was impressed to see that the sides of the hanger which the center bolt goes through are threaded. I expect these bad boys will last long enough for my great-grandkids to swing on.

These are really sturdy, but were very squeaky. Just take off the bolt and add a little silicone grease to the plastic washers inside. Theyll be eerily silent for a long time.

I used pressure treated wood. I cut the beam down to 8’6”, this left a finished swing set that was 12’ wide at the base. The 10’ legs I cut down to 9’ 4” this made the swing set 8’ 6” high to the bottom of the beam. I will be burying the legs 6”. The legs sit 7’3” wide at the base. The finished swing set sits in an area 12’ x 7’3” In researching the brackets on Amazon (the ones I purchased, as well as others) reviewers stated they had to make the ends of the beam smaller to fit in the bracket. I used a 4 ½” angle grinder with an 80 grit wheel for this and finished it off with a pad sander, this took maybe an hour to complete both ends. I painted all the pressure treated wood with one coat of primer and two coats of exterior finish color. For the assembly I predrilled all the holes for the lag bolts and sprayed the threads with Rust-Oleum, cold galvanizing compound paint. The swing hangers, made by Betooll were mounted per the instructions that came with the Squirrel Products swings , they also included an Outdoor home safety handbook that the U.S. consumer products commission puts out. I first assembled the brackets to the beam. To set the swing, I carried the beam up a 6’ ladder and my wife installed each leg has I held the beam. Once the leg bolts were installed, we had friends help us shift it into its final spot. The swing set is awesome and the baby loves it!
