It certainly turns out adorable when you’re finished. Because it’s so incredibly time consuming, it’s not very easy. It took me about a solid week and a half of 8 hours a day to complete, with one or two days nearing 12 hours. The numbers on the pieces are illegible. I ran out of white embroidery floss. On some pieces, like the legs, the preprinted guideline shows and I couldn’t really think of any way to hide it except wait for time to rub it off. In the directions, it wants you to see the large piece onto the stocking itself and then bead or embroider or appliqué the smaller pieces to that. That’s impossible. For example, it wants you to sew the green tree to the stocking and then attach the pieces to the tree but only to sew through the felt of the tree, not the stocking. It’s nearly impossible to not go through all of the felt layers when attempting to attach a bead. So i attached all pieces to the tree and then sewed the tree to the stocking. I also did this for the top cuff and the purple skirt and the hairpiece. It’s much easier to do it this way so be sure to read ahead.

Typical felt stocking kit. I am about half way through putting it together, so far looks great. This is the 5th one I have done in the last couple of years. I always run out of white embroidery floss prior to completion, so I do pickup extra at the craft store. Also as a tip, I add a fabric to line the inside of the stocking. This way all the knots and stitches are no longer exposed. This step is not a lot of effort and adds a nice finishing touch.

I have several friends who have made these stockings. I can tell you what Ive heard from them. These things are a {insert five letter word here} to put together. You have to follow the instructions carefully and a lot of the needlework is very meticulous and delicate. Unless you are an accomplished seamstress with mad sewing skills, give yourself 6-8 weeks to get this put together. But the finished product is very beautiful.

Nice stocking but I added more beads and lace, I find them a little boring. But my granddaughter loved it.

I bought this stocking kit when my daughter was a year old. It is quite time consuming, but VERY worth it in the end. Prior to getting this stocking kit I had never done any sewing other then a button. The kit comes with very well written instructions and diagrams. After I completed it, it looked exactly like the picture. My daughter LOVES it(now 3yrs) and I feel proud that I made such a wonderful keepsake for her. I recently finished another one(different kit) for my 5mos old son.
