Bucilla Sugar Plum Fairy Christmas Stocking Felt Applique Kit, 85431 18-Inch

I try to do two of these a year. I give myself 6 months each, taking my time in order to do other things. I thinks this is one of my best. Maybe because it is the first girlie project (which I love). My mother taught me to embroidery as a child. I picked it back up about three years ago (when I couldnt play tennis anymore). My stitches (especially satin stitch) are not nearly as good as my mothers, but all turned out good. The lips were difficult. I changed the hair to match my niece, and it gave the project a whole new look! More like a Hollywood Plum Fairy. She reminds me of Kim K. Ha, ha. I also added a pearl ring, and changed the bodice as not to interfere with her braid and corded bow. I always line these stockings so things dont get stuck on the threads. I keep a stock of extra beads, felt colors and thread. I always follow the instructions starting with 1. I do read them in advance, and decide ahead of time if I want to modify it in any way.

Not for the beginner.... I have made quite a few of these and takes a bit of time to do. ALOT of pieces. But hopefully will be worth it when its done.

Beautiful. Made them for my granddaughters who loved them. They were no more difficult to assemble than any other stockings Ive done.

This stocking is beautiful! The instructions are intense but detailed and easy to follow. I didnt have much experience with the different stitches needed for the stocking but a quick look at you tube helped tremendously. I will admit this stocking is time consuming and I havent finished it yet. But with some tenacity and a lot of hard work its gorgeous!

This stocking has many details and the directions are not easy to interpret. Not for anyone who has little experience sewing.

Love the Bucilla stockings! This is the 18th one I have made for grandchildren and great grandchildren. Never disappointed! They are so pretty hanging from the fireplaces of the various homes and the grandchildren still love them even though they have children of their own. I am now making one for the newest baby due in March.

I love making these. This will be my 4th one. Takes a long time to make, but my niece is going to love this. And I am going to love the fact that I was able to make this for her.

This is a very charming kit. Some of the directions were not very clear in particular The directions for the hairpiece. The chart detailing stitch type and color were almost impossible to decipher. In spite of these drawbacks I ended up with a darling sock for my grand daughter .

Such a nice stocking for a little girl. I have made several and the girls I gave them to loved them.

This stocking is absolutely beautiful when finished! However, this is not the stocking for novices. It was quite difficult and intricate and probably took the longest of any stocking Ive ever made. (Ive made 7 of these already.) So, take this into consideration when youre deciding which one to buy. I know my granddaughter is going to love it and someday Ill take her to see the Nutcracker so she can see the real Sugar Plum Fairy.
