The mat is durable, I have the mat on carpet and it stays flat. Silicon keeps the mat in place and it does not slide around. My cat is a messy eater and the lip helps with spills of food and water. I have another food dish in the holder and the silicon has a little give in it and the dish does not move. I use the metal dish for soft food.

I use this under the Catit water fountain and it works as designed. SUGARPLUM isnt a messy drinker but there are a few spots on it on occasion. It saved a cleanup once when I was adding water to the fountain and had some spill from the container I was using. It is easy to clean There was a comment on a previous review about the edges not laying flat because of being tightly rolled up in the packaging - I just reverse-rolled it, put a couple of elastic bands around it for a day and it lays flat now. Not a large problem. It looks good and compliments the fountain. I recommend purchasing this mat, youll be satisfied with your choice.

This product is very cute and useful. I am using this for under my cat’s water fountain and it works perfectly for catching the water droplets.

Saw this tray in someone else’s Amazon review for the water fountain (which I’ve had for several years) and thought what a practical way to anchor a food dish. The fountain has never leaked but the cat likes to bat his food around for his own personal amusement and my perpetual annoyance. Securing the bowl wont stop the playing with his food, but at least his bowl, and stray food, will be contained to a reasonable area. I once read that a cat’s food and water should be separated but he doesn’t seem to mind this new arrangement. The tray has a solid feel, cleans easily and has no discernible smell. The stainless steel bowl was included and has nice low sides to protect his whiskers.
