Greater than one weekThe Garmin Varia RTL515 is a must-have if you road cycle. The device is like having a copilot yelling “CAR BACK” when traffic approaches from the rear. The device synchs perfectly to my Wahoo Elemnt Bolt GPS. Indications of traffic are reliable...if it indicates traffic, something is back there. I’ve not yet had a false positive, although it occasionally indicates other cyclists behind me...some common sense and awareness is required.

> 3 dayI cant believe Ive been riding for so long without having digital eyes watching behind me. This device is a life savior and detects oncoming traffic behind you for almost a mile away. It sees multiple cars with status alerts being displayed on the mobile app or any Garmin computer device. I highly recommend this product. Dont ride without it! Well done, Garmin!!!

> 3 dayBought into the entire Garmin system just to run this light/radar and am very pleased with it. A few of my riding buddies have also purchased this unit and I cant imagine riding without it. Takes a bit of getting used to at first with little surprises like a sudden alert when you riding partner sprints past you but for the most part just works (which is unusual for a Garmin product honestly). I do wish battery life was a bit better but Ive not yet run our of charge on a longish ride. Ive had to re-sync/join the bluetooth twice now for unknowable reasons... The interface is one button and frankly I have no idea what Im doing regarding this thing. I should probably read the manual. Sometimes when I take it off the bike after a stopping ride it just shuts itself off, sometimes it seems to keep blinking this blue light and ends up drained on the counter. But generally as long as you plug it in as soon as you get home it will be ready for the next ride. I also really, really hate the micro-usb connector and wish Garmin would upgrade to a better connection. Its very difficult to plug this thing in without decent lighting. For all the complaining though this thing is amazing and has zero competition or comparable alternatives. It is also well supported at this point by all the major bike computers and this particular model can even pair with your phone for use with apps like RideWithGPS and others. A benchmark and standout product that I would never ride without.

> 3 dayI have been riding with this unit for about 6 months. It paired seamlessly with my Wahoo Element. Incredibly accurate and sensitive. I would recommend it for anyone riding streets and roads. Realize that you need a GPS to pair it with.

> 3 dayI highly recommend this item. You just have to find a bike computer that is compatible with it. I often rife on streets and this always lets me know when cars are behind me. One of my best investments on my bike.

> 3 dayThe Garmin Varia is something I wont leave without now. The alerts are mostly precise, and in my latest group ride everyone was so surprised with how quickly I was able to call out vehicles coming up on us. My only grip is mostly that I have a hard time getting it installed since my bike is smaller and most of the seatpost is taken by my small saddle bag. I WAS able to use the flat mount, and cross two of the mounting rubber rings to get it installed directly on the saddle bag, but its not always able to point directly back like its supposed to that way. Slightly pointed down sometimes it starts beeping things that arent there (likely my own back wheel?) idk. But as far as I can tell, its never missed anything and the awareness is whats most valuable to me.

> 3 dayI live in a rural area and ride mostly on county roads. Since cars can sneak up and become dangerous quickly, this rear looking radar is a life saver. It works well and integrates flawlessly with the “Ride With GPS” app on my iPhone. I will never ride without one again! ~$200 is cheap insurance.

> 3 dayWhere have you been all my life oh varia? Absolute lifesaver, useful when biking with my kids. Saves me from turning my neck every 1 min, and thus gives peace of mind.
