> 24 hourI bought this to replace my 310XT which has always worked well but I really wanted a map and turn by turn nav. I am only about 1 week in with the device about 7 rides but I think I now have a pretty good handle on it:

> 24 hourI received the package from PlayBetter last week. It took me no longer than 15 minutes to unpack, turn on, install on my bike. All the sensors connected easily with the Garmin 1030. After a couple of rides, I confirmed that this is working perfectly. The Garmin Connect website gives you a lot of functionality that is very useful. I had a question that I asked PlayBetter about. They answered quickly and provided great customer service - thanks!

> 24 hourI purchased this since I wanted to upgrade from my edge 500. I’m glad I did. The touch screen is such a welcome feature. I installed it on my bike in 20 minutes. I took that long cause I had to change out the cadence sensor battery and I couldn’t find my stash of batteries otherwise it would’ve been 5-10 minutes. The edge picks up the sensors quickly. The HRM strap is the only one I sometimes have issues with, it will lose connection and not read. I solve that problem by putting some saliva on the pads and it reads instantly. Can’t wait to try it outdoors.

> 24 hourThe sensors on this have greatly improved the quality of my bicycle rides. This device combined with nutritional changes and a good bicycle fit from a physical therapist have enabled me to do all day bicycle rides up and down steep mountain roads without injuring myself. The cadence reading in particular is very helpful because the cadence enables me to know when to change gears. Also I can see my heart rate getting lower during the same intensity rides week after week, which tells me that my heart is getting stronger. Riding without this would be like riding blind. Be aware though that the reseller modified the default settings. At one point I had to do a factory reset and the display and setup was all different. The resellers settings are a reasonable place to start. Changing the settings could be complex, and there are a lot of fine grained variables you could tweak if you really wanted to be scientific about it. The resulting data changes a lot depending on how you have things configured, so you could create a mess if you tried to change the resellers configuration and if you were not prepared to really get into the science of how you want this configured.

> 24 hourThe things I like about my 1030 Plus is the battery last a Long time before it needs recharging!!!! My 820 garmin needed to be charged after only a few hours of use. The 1030 Plus operates smoothly in every way

> 24 hourThe ONE JOB it had, sync routes from Strava. After fighting with it to sync with my computer; fighting with it and Garmin Express to update the firmware; it STILL doesnt do the job. This is my third Garmin computer. Garmin Express has always sucked, still does. Garmin Connect has always sucked, still does. Thats why its connected to Strava becasue no one wants to use Garmins crappy apps. But the devices WERE great until just now. I am returning this piece of trash and switching to Wahoo.

> 24 hourI was hoping that my first head unit purchase, after using my phone for years, would be the upgrade I needed for better battery life and rain protection. Well this product succeeds with those features; however there is a widely publicized flaw I missed--the mounting plate that attaches the unit to the mount is weak and fails.

> 24 hourThe Garmin 1030 is blind even with GPS eyes. It is nowhere close to as simple and user friendly as the Garmin 1000. Its app installed to my phone, shows speed, presents a location map and reports GPS access is ok but always fails to show distance. Ive registered it with Garmin, installed and linked it to my smart phone, studied all instructions, negotiated an endless series of screens and googled how to setup and use it to report distance cycled. Still fails. Im 100% fed up this this overly complex Rube Goldberg expression of complex and meaningless steps leading nowhere. It simply does not report distance cycled. Returning the 1030 and going back to my trusty Garmin 1000
