I am sharing KVM between a HP laptop and a MacMini, and the switch consistently works. I am very happy with the switch.

I was a bit dubious of getting a KVM switch because of all the bad reviews Id seen, but this one works. Every once in awhile, itll glitch on me (and then its just a matter of pressing the button on it and switching it from one machine to the other and then back again), but other than that, its worked fine. It was also really easy to figure out the installation of it too.

As far as switching between 2 PCs are concerned, the product works. However... this model combines mouse and keyboard into single output plug -- Im not sure if this is a good idea. Yes, it frees up an extra USB port on the PC. But in my experience, all the other USB ports on the PC are rendered unusable. Im using a powered USB hub, a flash drive and a printer plugged separately into 3 open USB ports -- all were unrecognizable. After unplugging the KVM switch, they all work fine. Note: the GCS42UW6 does not include audio port or remote switch, and no hot keys. UPDATE: The

I purchased this splitter in October of 2018. I am a restaurant manager and the old splitter we used to switch between our back-office screen and our normal OS had died. This thing worked wonderful for 3 months but one of the usb ports completely stopped working yesterday. The bottom one has power and I can connect mouse/keyboard to it just fine and use on both screens. It also allows me to switch between screens still, but having one of the two USB ports down negates the switching feature. Unfortunate.

The switch works fine for my wired keyboard on a Vista and Windows 7 PC but when I plugged in a wireless Microsoft mouse, the Vista wouldnt recognize it.

The IOGEAR 2-Port Compact USB VGA KVM allows users to share a VGA monitor, USB mouse, and USB keyboard between two computers. It supports multiple operating systems including Windows, Sun, and Mac. Users can switch between computers using a manual switch located on the top of the KVM unit. Being cabled based, users do not have to purchase additional cables in order to use the device. It is entirely plug-n-play and requires no software to run. It is also powered through the USB bus and thus does not require a separate independent power supply to run. It is the perfect KVM for those who want a well-priced, basic KVM that will allow them to multitask with two computers at their disposal. This 2-port KVM also offers a cost effective solution to increase security by allowing users to switch between the Internet connected PC and an Intranet connected PC.
