Its night and day using this after using cheap junk solder. This stuff leaves nice shiny joints and Ive never had an easier time soldering. Highly recommended.

Please check the DOM [Date of Manufacture] on the top label of all Kester Solder. Kester states that their solder has roughly a 2 year shelf life. So when you buy solder look at the DOM and with a pen write an expiration date of exactly two years on the label in case you notice problems with your soldered joints after that date. I have Kester solder that is expired by two months and I havent noticed anything yet but if I didnt I would buy a new 1lb. spool. There are distributors out there that are very good at making sure they provide their customers with the newest solder product that takes into account this very thing. In my opinion all solder should be sold based on this expiration date. If the solder in the photos are representations of what I might be buying. The DOM on these go back more than 6 years. Jun/2014 and Jun/2016 over about 4 years expired solder. I dunno... you decide. Not all things expired are garbage. I just wanted to inform you. Alex

I suck at soldering. My hands are really shaky and I dont do it often enough to get the practice. I cant believe how much of a difference this made over the cheap stuff (which have thousands of 5 star reviews!) Id been using. It flows where I want it to go, very easy to use, low temp.. For years Ive been thinking about trying this, but the price compared to others is significant. I had tried a little tube of it awhile back and didnt like it at all. I didnt know I had brought the wrong type (the naming of various solders is a bit confusing) I finally broke down a few months ago and bought this. I was getting so frustrated soldering I started buying in stead of making. It is absolutely worth the price. Its not a miracle tho - I still suck at soldering, I just suck less now.

63% lead and 37% tin is generally used considered perfect for electronics hand soldering. Kester 44 rosin core flux is generally considered one of — if not the — best for electronics hand soldering. And 0.031” is just about the best diameter for small chassis, through-hole electronics, and SMT down to about 0805 and even 0402. As a result, this is a great solder for most electronics hand soldering. This is a great solder.

This stuff is SO much better than the cheap spools that I bought from merchants overseas! I can see why this is recommended in the keyboard community. Melts so easily and so cleanly. And for 1 pound - not a bad deal IMO.

A high quality solder that flows easily. Kester is used where I work (electrical engineering R&D lab). I’ve got a good deal of experience working with it and it’s great stuff. If you’re a hobbyist looking to buy in this quantity, make sure it’s something you know you’ll be happy with. I feel safe in recommending this solder to anyone, but we all have our preferences and nothing beats first-hand experience. Since I expect this roll to last me at least 20 years based on my usage rate, this is well worth the extra $0.50-ish per year I could’ve saved by buying cheaper solder from an unknown manufacturer.

This product speaks for itself. It showed up fast, and in a good box. That credit goes to Amazon.

(1) Kester 24-6337-0027 Spool, 1 Pound per Spool Kester 24-6337-0027, 44 Rosin Flux is an activated rosin formula for use in flux-cored solder wire. 44 has virtually dominated the field of activated rosin core solders for well over four decades. An outstanding performance feature of this flux is the “instant-action” wetting behavior. The high mobility and fast-spreading action of this flux results in more reliable production line soldering. 44 is classified as ROM1 per J-STD-004.
