Unit seems to work just fine, but the laser pointer is not very bright - its difficult to see outdoors. I had a Fluke 59 that had a much stronger/brighter laser - but its nearly twice the price of this unit. Also, the 9V battery that was included was DOA, not a deal breaker, but one more thing to be disappointed with. So long story short its a good value for a brand name, but... you get what you pay for.

I have bias for Klein tools. Overall it seems to be a quality item but not a scientific instrument. As an electrician, I will use it to check for hotspots in electrical equipment.

I went out this morning. Thermometer on the house and the weather app said 36 degrees. I wanted to check this unit, so I shot several items in the shade. All read 22 degrees. I checked a bucket with water in it, no ice so I had to believe it was above 32 degrees. Pool water read 40 degrees, so I checked it with a probe thermometer which read 51 degrees. Took it inside the house. Thermostat read 72 degrees. Using this on the wall it read 72 degrees. Apparently, it is inaccurate within some temperature ranges and not others. Just cant count on what it reads so I returned it.

My child was sick recently with a fever and thought to use this in a pinch. It did get a temp reading but think it was off a few degrees. We ordered one with many high reviews which is meant to accurately measure forehead temps and in comparison the Klein was reading on the lower end. It works well for within 95% accuracy but for accurate temps for fevers go with different option. Again I know this isn’t for humans or precise measurements but figured a Klein product would be right on the money. On a side note it does work well for monitoring bath temps and jacuzzi temps! For the mechanics it gives solid readouts on wheel bearing temps, brake temps, etc for simple diagnosis

Have had this for about a year or so and use it every so often. It still works well and the battery seems to be fully charged. Definitely believe worth the investment.
