> 3 dayI use these to direct waste down into a regular 3 gal plastic bag (googled a hack for the litter genie). It works well, but it gets used up fast which is why I had to google a hack.

> 3 dayI have had my cat/buddy, Toby since shortly after my husband passed away last year and I downsized. I had also experienced probably the worst thing that can happen to you after a knee replacement(wont go into details, but think someone put an IED into my leg). Because of that and the fact that although my unit is on the first floor, I need to walk up ten steps, so needless to say I cant take out my garbage. For a couple of months I cleaned out the litter into a plastic bag that went into the garbage, but there was a smell that I just could not take. I looked at the automatic litter cleaners, but reviews were mixed and I didnt want Toby getting caught in a moving rake thing. I figured I would give this a try. Havent they had something like this for diapers for years? At first I thought it was no big deal, you scoop the clumps into the hopper and pull the spring door out the clumps drop and the spring door snaps back into place. After I started using it, there was an improvement in the smell of the garbage. My daughter comes a couple times a week to empty garbage but it takes longer than even two weeks to fill if you shake contents down. She wasnt able to get over when it was full so I went back to the plastic bags. I use a rollator so I would put the bag onto the tray scoop and bring the clumps up to tray height to deposit the clumps. Well, this became a disaster of sorts when the clumps fell towered the outer side of the bag and flipped the bag over, sending the clumps to the floor where they broke up. I realized that the height of this receptical is perfect and the clumps cant fall out. When the receptical is full, you just pull the bag out of the cartridge enough to cut it and tie it off. Then you just pull the plastic material out of the cartridge and tie it off the you are ready to go. It takes quite a long period of time with one cat and there is absolutely no odor. You just buy the receptacle and it comes with a beginner cartridge with the plastic material. Each regular cartridge lasts a good amount of time. I have been using this for about a year and I like the convenience and no odor!

> 3 dayThese are made well. I have to take them out every 4-6 days since my male produces grapefruit sized potty balls compared to my other cats. I ran out of bags and tried to substitute with 13 gal bags and, although it worked, the material is just not the same so it will leave a scent inside the genie and you also have to worry about tearing. Certain brands of the 13 gal fit really well in the genie and some will not close properly. After trial and error I just decided to repurchase these packs. I know the price adds up especially if you have a crapper like mine but I do like these much better. Of course they can make them better but thats probably not going to happen. By this I mean wasted material with the knot deal and not being able to utilize the whole thing. Those that own the genie will know what I mean.

> 3 dayI wrote a comment a while back about sometimes getting a defective product. It happens every third or fourth one. The plastic bag is doubled in the holder so when you pull it theres no end. You have to keep pulling to get to it and of course that wastes most of the bag. These arent cheap so its pretty frustrating when I dont get full use out of what I paid for.

Greater than one weekThis product (and the can used with it) is the absolute best quality-of-life improvement a cat owner can get. I dont know how they work, or if theyre any more sophisticated than a Wal-Mart bag, but you cant catch so much as a whiff of litter box from these things when theyre properly tied up or used in the Litter Genie can. Dont think, just buy these, and get them on the Subscribe and Save deal so you never run out. Every person I know who doesnt use these things has a worse-smelling home than I do. If youre like me and live in a relatively compact apartment where space is at a premium, you do not want to have a cat without these bags.

> 3 dayWow.....I havent any idea why, but these all went on sale last night for $2.49! I managed to buy 3 and when I checked back later they went up even higher than before? This company should realistically drop the price, they would sell so much more which would bring the manufacturing costs down. Like everyone else I love the litter genie but hate paying for the refills. Other companies know this and charge less while also giving longer refills. For what I paid and the quality Id give 10 stars everyday.

> 3 dayAgainst my better judgement my wife bought a Litter Genie. The television ads finally got to her, and I have to admit to a certain curiosity myself. Had I seen one in person before she purchased it, and done a little further research on the subject, I may have said no. Its fairly convenient to use, but with our three cats, fills up quickly. And we go through these bag refills pretty quick too. At $7.50 - $10 a pop it adds up pretty fast. Add to that the last part of the bag is not really usable and you end up wasting it and its even less practical. The Litter Genie itself is made of cheap plastic and you must be careful when hinging it back together to get it lined up properly. Also, the funnel as they call it, has a clip that must be released to replace the bag refill but is impossible to open without a screwdriver or other tool/device. That said, it does keep the used litter smell to a minimum, and is generally a good idea. But somebody is getting rich from these products.
